Re: Weekly Prediction League? : Thu Oct 04, 2018 8:15 pm
Summary:

Topsy-Turley times for Leigh so let’s begin with the BBQ. Come HT there had already been 55 points from the boot, making the majority of punters’ preds seem well on the low side (WLJ & VL were already under and Pubbers was left hoping for a single drop goal in 280 minutes worth of play. Pro rata, Chayders’ pred would have proved only two too high but the boots got rusty in the second half despite Leigh being down to twelve (eventually eleven) and Widnes & Oldham throwing in the towel and saving themselves for the Sunday roast. Cross-checked FT total was 103 seeing Wanderer take the chequered flag, Cheadle Leyther in second and Bongser in third by a VERY long head.

Unsurprisingly Fev bested Barrow. Full house there though no correct margins (none whatsoever this week in fact). Two points to all that had already gathered an attendance point.

CL had Swinton to beat Batley on the latter’s manor. Not to be, as foreseen by all others. CL’s BBQ score however still saw him in a podium place in the order Bongser types.

Too-little-too-late? Rochdale-Mathis-Hornets again ripped up the form book and won pretty convincingly against the Eagles. Bongser, changed his mind at the last minute and will never again let Rochdale Marc’s words enter his head (lah lah can’t hear). He miscalled it along with three others going for a Sheffield Winday. WLJ had the last crack this season at the elusive correctly predicted draw. Not possible next week.

Bongser will forever be grateful to one Jamie Acton (sponsored by Impact Insurance and HRJ Associates) for putting the cannonball in Dewsbury’s Castle on that black day.

Perhaps Bongser should have saved his “To This We’ve Come” line for this week. To think we would live to see the day when half the Leythers went for a Leigh loss. Wanderer, either you didn’t know the full extent of Leigh’s plight or you were buoyed by the small miracle of Bolton winning (with only a quarter of the possession) against Frank Lampard Jnr’s United conquering team.

WWB this week goes to Atomic – 34 matchday points to be eked out by the extra 25.

Standings in the Mid8s:

Wanderer on 290
Zools on 210
Tommers ‘n’ Pubbers on 199
Chayders on 197
Vanners on 175
Bongser on 152
Chazzer on 151
Jacobbers on 124

Super8s?

Wanderer on 955
Atomic on 907
Pubbers on 847
Zools on 821
Chas on 813
Bongser on 711
Vanners on 569
WLJ on 568 (jockeying for position)
Cokey onto-4-6-8 (Never Too Late (TRB))
Diggers on 114
LX111 on 98
SBS on 22

Final puntables out mornin’ neet. Chance for all to participate with a day more’s lack of gen to inform their decisions. :thumb:

Gotta keep up, Wanderer, that sort of lackadaisical posting is exactly why you're lagging ahead of everyone.

Re: Weekly Prediction League? : Thu Oct 04, 2018 11:29 pm
Okay. Earlier than advertised and before Bongser forgets - The Puntables:

Only one game on which to speculate this week and that is the one at Postal Stamp Road (let’s face it, the LDN Stadium is a tad ragged at the edges). Bongser will therefore adjust the scoring system.

Three points each for the correct Fev score at both HT & FT.
Three points each for the correct Leythe score at both HT & FT.
Five points each for the correct leader/winner at both HT & FT.
Ten (more) points for each correct margin (with correctly named leader/winner)
Twenty-five points more for each of the exact scorelines at both HT & FT (with correctly named winner).
No Pokemon available.

BBQ(s):
Nº1
a) First Leigh scorer
b) First Fev scorer
c) Leaders at HT
d) Last Leigh Scorer
e) Last Fev Scorer

The above are nominally worth three points apiece.

HOWEVER!!!

These punts will be a sort of accumulator. Bongser very much doubts that anyone will get all five questions correct (as nobody knows who’ll be paying * playing  ). But with BetBong you don’t need to:

One correct – 3 pts as advertised
Two correct – 3x3 = 9
Three – 3^3 =27
Four – 3^4 = 81
All Five - 3^5 = 243 pts & Fast Track Canonisation.

BBQ Nº2: Whoi does The Leythe, Bent & Bongs Journal only get delivered to Bongser Towers on toime (T’ursday) when there is bad ‘news’ on the back page? Mocking the Weak (stet)? Into the performance area please. The points (2) will go to whoever Dara thinks funniest.

C’mon! Laugh in the faces of the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune (or lack of it).

The Warrington win yestereve defused a few time bombs. So let's have a last one. You may wait until after the Wigan v Cas game for this but predict the FT score in the Grand Final. Normal point scoring will apply, no Pokemon, no WWB. Points scored will still be added and a Grand Prix bonus scheme (that of recent weeks) applied.

Please turn over your papers. Your time starts....NOW!

As ever, Good Luck! :thumb:

Anyone's WWB this week. Why play The National Lottery when you can play WPL?

To break precedent, Bongser will lead the way. He's just a gal who cain't say "no" when it comes to Leigh:

HT: Fev 6-4 Leigh
FT: Fev 6-44 Leigh

(2015 B'thinks - that was a game of two halves the first one being the first half Leigh lost since the opening game of the season against the newly relegated Bulls - now THAT was a game with everything!)

BBQs:

First Leigh scorer: O'Neill
First for Fev: Hardcastle
HT Leaders: As above (Bongser boogahed up this bit he now sees but bet hedging will be allowed).
Last Leigh scorer: K Brown
Last for Fev: That late, lamented Leyther, Martyn Ridyard.

Bongser disallows himself from Dara's challenge. :thumb:

EDIT: Forgot to post the GF pred. Just to prove that Bongser can go with (possibly not reet) head above heart:

Pahs 24-18 Wire.
