Re: Weekly Prediction League? : Thu Oct 04, 2018 8:15 pm
Summary:Topsy-Turley times for Leigh so let’s begin with the BBQ. Come HT there had already been 55 points from the boot, making the majority of punters’ preds seem well on the low side (WLJ & VL were already under and Pubbers was left hoping for a single drop goal in 280 minutes worth of play. Pro rata, Chayders’ pred would have proved only two too high but the boots got rusty in the second half despite Leigh being down to twelve (eventually eleven) and Widnes & Oldham throwing in the towel and saving themselves for the Sunday roast. Cross-checked FT total was 103 seeing Wanderer take the chequered flag, Cheadle Leyther in second and Bongser in third by a VERY long head.
Unsurprisingly Fev bested Barrow. Full house there though no correct margins (none whatsoever this week in fact). Two points to all that had already gathered an attendance point.
CL had Swinton to beat Batley on the latter’s manor. Not to be, as foreseen by all others. CL’s BBQ score however still saw him in a podium place in the order Bongser types.
Too-little-too-late? Rochdale-Mathis-Hornets again ripped up the form book and won pretty convincingly against the Eagles. Bongser, changed his mind at the last minute and will never again let Rochdale Marc’s words enter his head (lah lah can’t hear). He miscalled it along with three others going for a Sheffield Winday. WLJ had the last crack this season at the elusive correctly predicted draw. Not possible next week.
Bongser will forever be grateful to one Jamie Acton (sponsored by Impact Insurance and HRJ Associates) for putting the cannonball in Dewsbury’s Castle on that black day.
Perhaps Bongser should have saved his “To This We’ve Come” line for this week. To think we would live to see the day when half the Leythers went for a Leigh loss. Wanderer, either you didn’t know the full extent of Leigh’s plight or you were buoyed by the small miracle of Bolton winning (with only a quarter of the possession) against Frank Lampard Jnr’s United conquering team.
WWB this week goes to Atomic – 34 matchday points to be eked out by the extra 25.
