ROUND TWO ROUND UP (finally, Bongser hears you sigh):

The early Toulouse vs Widnes match-up was here distinguished by three things. A & B by Bongser & Zools missing this first one and C by Pubbers nailing a correct margin (first of the season). Only three of the remaining forecasters went for the salt miners.

Our glorious Johnny Come Lately leader said in Round One:

EVVO wrote:
Time for me to have a go at this....
....Need to re-read the rules regarding Jokers etc.

Well, Evvo there was a veritable rash of Jokers in Round Two to instruct you how to play a Joker or not.

The main event saw a disappointing result for the Leythers amongst us and, doubly so, for Tommers who scored nul points but played his Joker to double that up to...eerrrrmm...neauwt. Better luck next time. Most, like he, stayed loyal, but Chazzers, Chayders & (unsurprisingly) Donny Juan picked up points. Vanners blew a seven game Pokemon through his loyalty. King in The North!

Chayders played his Joker on The Bulls, called correctly on the winner and doubled his money. Clean sweep from this WPL on that game.

Both Pubbers & Zools cannily played their Joker on The Trannies beating The Hairnets. Clean sweep again!

THAT’S ALL THE INITIAL JOKERS DEALT WITH. THANKFULLY NOBODY SPOTTED THE PROBABLY MOST FRUITFUL USE. AS WE ARE AGAIN A MERE NINE WALKERS, BONGSER HAS EDITED OUT THE POSSIBILITY OF THE “JOKERBON” – NO JOKERS ON THE BBQ PLEASE, LADIES & GENTS :NAUGHTY:

Another clean sweep on the Fev victory. Barrow losing to Sheffield caught most napping (congrats to Evvo, Pubbers, Zools and Vanners – more on the latter later). Chayders blew his Pokemon chance there, hard Chays. Only Tommers’ hunch prevented a clean sweep on a win for York. However Vanners (he again) nailed the correct margin.

As to the BBQ, various sources state that Leythe went 10-6 ahead between the eleventh & twelfth minutes as a player, newly returned to the WN7 fold, Pownded up to the try line and Pownced thereover. Grand Prix Max of 25pts to:

Vancouver Leyther wrote:
I am very much in and looking forward to once again affirming just how little I know about our great game. I will however perform great feats of strength each week holding up the rest of the league.
Up the comics !

YES – It’s Vannus da Mannus, the Van-Cougar himself. His “great feats of strength” in Round Two (55pts) also see him pick up the WWB of a further 25pts.

Strictly speaking, Bongser just broke user protocol by quoting from a PM but when VL sees the table below, Bongser doubts that the self-deprecating ex-pat will have any quibble (as he polishes his newly burnished Centurions helmet) and expects our lovely moderators to turn a Nelsonesque eye. After all B&B is licking the wounds inflicted by a good spanking by this week’s wooden spoon.
:thumb:

Let’s see how the table has turned: Well for the first time (to Bongser’s recollection) it is

Vanners on 115pts Jj
EVVO on 107 Jj
Pubbers on 80 j
Charlie on 75 Jj
Donners on 65 Jj
Tommers on 63 j
Zools on 59 j
Bongser on 55 Jj
Chayders on 51 j

Tight at the bottom, tight at the top. :thumb:

Not wanting to sound like I'm throwing my toys out of the pram already but is that table correct lol. I got the toulouse v Widnes score bang on so surely I should score 65 points just for that one game or am I not understanding the scoring format which wouldn't be much of a surprise really, cheers Wayne :-) :-)

It does look like 65 points for that prediction ... over to B & B ... Not forgetting his decision is final

Yes, apologies Vanners. It's time for the new extravaganza "Brasso on Ice"

Looks like Bongser gaffes started early this season. Apologies also, of course, to Pubbers - how the heck Bongser spotted a correct margin without first spotting a correct scoreline is beyond him. All enquiries to Shepherd Neame & Greene King, please.

Revised table for Round Two Catch Up Cock Up:

Pubbers on 155 j
EVVO on 107 Jj
Vanners on 90pts Jj
Charlie on 75 Jj
Donners on 65 Jj
Tommers on 63 j
Zools on 59 j
Bongser on 55 Jj
Chayders on 51 j

That decision is final

ROUND THREE ROUND UP!

Atomic & EVVO wagged the Saturday fixtures the earlier of which saw an otherwise clean sweep for we WPLeaguers as Toulouse beat ‘Dale convincingly. That said, three of our number (Chuck, Pubbers & Juan) were a mere two points out on a relatively high margin. Five points to each of those eligible.

Chayders, you played a joker on that match, but you didn’t have one available having played your only one (so far) in Round 2. Pls see below:
Bent&Bongser wrote:
The single attendance point of last season is to be replaced by a joker fraction (j). Attend five times and thereby collect five joker fractions and you will be awarded another full Joker (J) that may again be used at a time of your choosing. Track will be kept of these in the Pred League Table. A poster for instance with a Joker available to play the following week (if he/she opts to do so) and with three further joker fractions will appear in the table in this format: PosterX: 275pts J+jjj. If available, more than one Joker may be played in a round.

The Toronto game was correctly called as a home win by five of those assembled, with only the two (at different stages) Round Two Weekly Winners ( ) disagreeing.

Onto the Sunday games. A hard fought Leigh victory (with Ridy top scoring for his wife against the mistress he took when the former locked him out of the bedroom) was called by all. Tommers & Vanners closest on the margin though one out either side.

Fax beating Batley saw another clean sweep though no one saw the eyebrow raisingly narrow margin of a mere two points.

Dewsbury vs Swinton was a near miss further clean sweep – only one missing out. The tie also saw a curiosity of 4 out 9 nailing the margin (three of them with the same predicted score – no copying please gentlemen or Bongser will have to send invigilators round to your homes). All though failed to convert the try by getting the scoreline. BONGSER HAS CHECKED & DOUBLE CHECKED! Congrats though to Chazzer, Chayders, Wanderer & Zools, 10 additional points apiece.

Which leaves five still in with a chance of a six-tie Pokemon as we look at York vs Barrow. Nobody expected such a tonking for the Cumbrians but four Pokemen (?) were brought home along with the bacon (100 points apiece for Chazzer, Wanderer, Zools & Bongser – and a missed Joker opportunity for three of us).

That leaves the BBQ to separate the three wrestling at the top for the Round 3 WWB (Bongser feels sure that he heard the LCTV commentary mention an hitherto unknown wrestling fed called WWE after Day’d dazed Pownall with an interesting, post tackle manoeuvre that would have seen a Leythe player suspended for seven millennia). After 20 minutes scrolling back through nigh on a week of garbage spewed out by LC Twitter, Bongser found the curiously low HT draw ticket number of 229327. This being his only source of info, he will run with it for now. All out by a country mile with Tommers out (presumably through a typo) by an “inter-continental mile”. EVVO closest but Chazzer (as BBQ runner-up) takes the laurels as the (provisional) WWB winner! Huzzay!!

So the provisional Round Three table looks thus (note that, ominously, neither of the top two have yet to table a Joker, maybe keeping their respective powders dry until the season starts to unfold and we start to see the strengths and weaknesses of each new squad):

Charlie on 233pts Jjj
Donners on 215 Jjj
Zools on 207 jj
Bongser on 197 Jjj
Pubbers on 179 jj
EVVO on 152 Jjj
Vanners on 126 Jjj
Chayders on 101 jj
Tommers on 80 jj

Round FOUR puntables:

Batley XX-YY Rochdale
Widnes XX-YY Sheffield
Leythe XXXX-0 Trannies
Swinton XX-YY Toulouse
Barrow XX-YY Dewsbury
Fev XX-YY Fax
Bradford XX-YY York

BBQ? Leigh have not lost a single game to The Trannies thus far this season! Will the draw of the pretenders attract a bumper crowd to LSV or will the comfort of the armchair or the flow of draught ale keep folk away?

Attendance punts, please, ladies & gents.

As ever, good luck and may the scoring be correct! :thumb:
