Round Four Round Up:
Due to Widnes’ travails, we were down to six matches this week. We saw full houses on Batley & Toulouse (just – good fist made of it by Littler’s Lions). Further full houses were only scuppered by Zools plumping for a ‘Fax win and by Bongser’s adherence to Rule O (page 61). In fact, due to the spirited performance put up by The Comics, Bongser was second closest to the correct margin (Vanners closest for what it’s worth – which is nothing).
In fact Vanners, Chayders, Pubbers & Donny Juan were only thwarted in their quests for a six match Pokemon by the draw at Barrow. Juan was left high and not so dry, sweating on one more Dewsbury kick o’er t’sticks for a correct margin (fifteen points in total) whilst had such a kick scored (in reality) by Dewsbury been instead been a Barrovian one, all three of Vanners, Pubbers & Bongser would have nailed an exact score (65 points). As it was, nul points pour tout le monde.
Of the six correct punters on a York win, CL distinguished himself by nailing the margin of 10 (for a further ten) and (with no Jokers played this week) therefore led the round as we entered the BBQ. Then, sadly, the wheels came off his bus. By a margin of 533, CL was furthest out on the official attendance of 3142. Tommers was closest (a mere 31 under – 25 points for that) followed by Juanderer and then Bongser. Tomic therefore edged this round by a mere two points but enjoys the WWB of 25 to boot.
Still in the lead though that lead is now down to a mere five points (one correct winner's worth) is Charlie. In fact, after last week’s point frenzy, this relatively low scoring round sees the top seven runners unchanged position-wise. Only Atomic, in nearly doubling his season’s tally, and Chayders are trading places:
