The problem here is that any player of any colour should be able to inspire any youngster to get involved in rugby league. I am white, and Rodney Tickle, Des Drummond and John Woods inspired me. Why can't Michael Lawrence inspire white people as well as black people?

Figures suggest that it hasn't worked very well yet and in my opinion Rugby League should have done more to promote the game within the Afro-Caribbean community when we had Ellery Hanley, Martin Offiah, Des Drummond, Henderson Gill etc when they was in there pomp and before that Clive Sullivan and Billy Boston.and others.
A great opportunity missed in my opinion, as there are you great athletes in the Afro-Caribbean community who would make some very good Rugby League players.
