no the recent closure. Hence the need to raise some cash but selling a player or share issue. It looks like it is cash you require rather than salary cap space / player.

If London is Athens, Yorkshire is Sparta, a tougher community and proud of it.

Yes, that's what it seems like to me. Cashflow problems, possibly due (at least in part) to reduced crowd levels from their projections.

Either way, what will be will be.

Just to add in some Wakey attendance stats here:

Average YTD is 5,772. Average for 2008 was 6,962. Down 17%

Average compared to the like for like fixtures from last season is down 19% and on a round to round basis is down 24%

Wakeys highest attendance of the season so far (6,578) is only 222 more than our lowest of the season so far (6,356).

Now, assuming that the crowd average stays the same that equates to 15,470 speccies less for Wakey this season. At an average of say £10 a pop, well, you're talking about £150k.

The people of Wakefield need to have a look at themselves.
Their team are doing them proud and deserve better support than that.

Unfortunately the people who will read BG's statement are the ones who don't need to. It's the other people sat at home on a Sunday. You've had it tough this year and you need your supporters to turn out in force - the team is performing but the support isn't.

the club is currently in the black , now im no financial whiz kid or a member of the HBoS BoD but im sure that equates to not being skint.

you are right in what you say about the low level of attendances but im sure that by the time the next round of franchises come around our attendances would of rose up again.

it seems a lot have hit onto the fact that wakey tried to get 100K for brough but nobody as concluded that just maybe lowly little Wakefield may be about to ......lets say invest the cash in other ways and being prudent decided that they would try to raise the cash by offloading brough to the first suckers who would pay 100k. obviously they seem to have contacted Huddersfield first when this fell through Wakefield decide to raise 100k for player strengthening using us the fans .

sometimes information is a bad thing , im almost wetting myself . BTW have you listened to the pod cast for the wakey match . looks like Barrie mac is also an informed guy :D

Give the guy a bit of slack MG. I don't know the ins and outs of our club and why should I?

Do we have £100,000 to spend on a player? etc - I can not answer.

You know ST sales. And if the Giants announced some stadium naming rights fundraiser with a big fanfare you might expect to hear what happened. these are not private dealings after all.
