Dear oh dear is that all it takes for you take your dummy home!

New stand is good, good views and good atmosphere.

The organisation needs a bit of fine tuning, they just aren't geared up for a bigger crowd, turnstiles opened 15 minutes late and 2 people serving in the food stall, ran out of beer and food.

No thats not all it takes to spit out me dummy, i got to the ground nice and early and got settled down in my seat in the New all singing all dancing west stand, next to the cas dugout area, not able to go any higher in the stand as me and the wife are both disabled, i watched everything that happend on the left hand side of the pitch during the game as my view was blocked by the Cas doctor if anything happend on the right hand side. i bore witness to 2 rather big gentlemen all dressed in black enter the seats next to me to evict a 80 year old man who had sat comfy for over 30 minutes in a seat.

My son and his mate were both thretened by stadium staff with expulsion when they said helo to eddy & stevo as the presenters went to their seats, as the game got underway a young lady (about 7/8ish) found herself at the opposite side of the stand to her parents (due to getting a autograth from Big G) upset she asked a steward if she could go back to her parents just to be told NO! she would have to go out and around, not what any parent wants to hear.

ive no issues with the stadium but the organisation and the heavy handed tactics of the Shay staff is poor & OTT

Re: The Shay : Mon Jun 06, 2011 1:02 pm
I thought that the Shay was a fantastic little ground to watch RL in, particularly with the new stand.

The only problem for me is the location. Halifax is an awful place to get to and from when there is few people trying to do the same thing.

We set off in good time (well over an hour before kick-off) and the bypass was already choked. We had to park in the multi-story behind the sticks cos my dad is disabled and neither the Giants or Halifax were able to provide him with a disabled space at the ground (another balls-up of a story that I won't go into!!). However, on getting back to the car, it took us a good 40 mins to get out of the car park. By that time, traffic was backing up from the top of Salterhebble.

Ridiculous to think that we went to Old Trafford last week and it took us roughly the same amount of time to get home!!

All in all, it was about a 5 hour trip for a home game!!!!

I came over from Huddersfield about an hour before kick off and the bypass was blocked around Salterhebble but to be honest it did not take more than about five minutes to clear.
I cannot comment after the game as i stayed in Halifax.

No ground will ever compare to Headingley for traffic congestion.

Bizarrely, I find that Headingley is one of the best grounds to get away from.

We park in the carpark in the South West corner of the ground. As you come out of the carpark, turn right over a tiny bridge and this brings you straight down to Kirkstall Rd.

We parked in a pay and display car park in Prescott St ,just up from the "Pump Room" pub. Free after 6 on Saturdays and all day Sunday. 5 mins level walk to ground. Headed towards Halifax and then out via Hipperhome.after match. No delays at all.
Thought the view and leg room were pretty good, though we were sat in front of the press who insisted on talking all through the match! Got burger and pies and beer ok as well. All in all a good afternoon out.

Mind you, it took us even longer to get there. We set off at 1 o'clock and didn't arrive at the ground until 3:30. Mind you, that was early enough for a bevvy or three!

Still open for late sponsors!

Valid points you have raised there. They ought now to be put in writing and sent to the Shay.

Love my Rugby League.

The game will survive in North Wales. Too much work and effort has been put in, to let it go to waste. We have an appetite for this sport and we'll make it work.

You're likely to see me in a Crusaders shirt, in a Warrington game or a Catalans game.

Quite looking forward to our visit in a few weeks time :D Although I'd prefer to be going to the Galpharm, never been to the Shay before. Just hope there's no shirt mix-up again! LOL. Saw the attendance. Not too bad, when you think about it. By the sounds of it people enjoyed it and will go back. You shouldn't expect us to bring many, but hopefully it won't be too bad for you moving away from the Galpharm for a few games.
