Hudds are no-ones Derby. No-one cares.

THE true Derby is Wigan-Saints...that's not an opinion, that's a fact.

The term "Derby" means that game, and only that game. Not soccer/ManU/Man City/Liverpool/Everton/Glasgow Rangers/Glasgow Celtic ad infinitum...

Hudds are an easy club to dislike - few fans and the ones they have are tainted by the chippy aresholes...a fab stadium, but borrowed from a rubbish soccer club, based in a town where no-one cares.

I used to be involved with (against), Giants in a matchday capacity in the Tony Smith era - I couldn't have admired them more. Now...they are sad, shallow imitation of the club they were a few short years ago.

Oxford Dictionary

Derby - a sports match between two rival teams from the same areas

No mention of pie eaters and glassmakers

You get a mention under Addlepated - confused and/or stupid

Sigh.

"The 19th Earl has since claimed the Derby name was originally only given to one other sporting event: Rugby league fixtures between St Helens at one end of the family's Knowsley estate and Wigan at the other[10]."

Calling a local sports fixture a "Derby" is akin to calling all vacuum cleaners Hoovers. Yes, we do it, but the true club v club Derby is Wigan v Saints.
