Backs to the Wall : Sat Jul 11, 2020 7:33 am
Like the rest of you I am desperate to see the lads in action again. Whilst we've been in lockdown I've taken the opportunity to finish and publish my second book which is about the Northern Union tour of Australasia in 1914. The title of the book is 'Backs to the Wall' and it covers the early career of Harold Wagstaff from his Pump Hole Rangers days right through to the Four Trophies season of 1914 / 15. In my research for the book I uncovered the true background to why the Northern Union were expected to play 3 test matches (and four games in all) in only eight days, culminating in the famous Rorke's Drift Test match where our very own Harold Wagstaff lead the tourist to a famous victory despite being reduced to ten men. I've written the book as a novel with lots of dialogue to bring out the characters of the key individuals. So if you are interested in learning about the most successful era in the history of our great club or you just need something to pass the time whilst we wait for the return of RL why not order a copy now. It's available on Amazon in Ebook (£6.99) and paperback (£12.95) or you can order direct from me at brynsue@hotmail.co.uk for £12.95 plus postage. For every book ordered direct from me I will donate £3 to the squad-builder fund and for local orders I will deliver or you can collect from me in Honley.
