Super Second Half For Giants As They Thrash the Centurions

Fans were back in the Leigh Sports Village to welcome their Leigh Centurions to the field as they hoped to secure their first win of the season against fellow strugglers the Huddersfield Giants and lift themselves off the bottom of the table.

The two sides have met this season in the Betfred Challenge Cup, the Giants winning by 36-18 in the game played in April, but the last Super League encounters were back in 2017, Leigh winning their home game by 30-0 while losing at Huddersfield by 26-4 later in the season.

The Giants were favourites for the win with Leigh being given a twelve-point start on the handicap coupon.

Listening on radio Manchester the commentators thought we were playing within ourselves and could have upped the tempo even more. !

The fact we scored offf the last play off the game suggests you might be right,

That is what we have lacked for a long time.

When you are winning you don’t just coast.

Tops teams play till the final whistle goes

Mirfield exiled to Dunblane

The first half we just sucked up the pressure that Leigh threw at us and they were helped in a big way by the officials. We were always on top and bided our time as it looked that our game plan was to hold it tight in the first half then put them to the sword in the second which we did with ease. Looked comfortable on the ball and backed up players most of the time. Some of our play was brilliant and great to watch. The best thing is we’re only going to get better.
