New rule changes quite interesting.
Having a decent kicker on the park is going to get a lot of teams out of trouble with the 20/40. Dont think we ever exploited the 40/20 well enough at ealing though so lets see with this one.
If we ever get back to scrummaging extra options will be good for speedsters and canny players, will suit Sammuts style i reckon.

How many 20/40's were kicked during the 2020 NRL season?

Less than 30. But none worked

The rule is still being introduced and with some of the smaller pitches we play on a decent kicker can exploit it

There was a 20/40 kicked in the NRL deemed but not called as TJ view was blocked by the defender, tv replay shows ball grazed the line, should have been 20/40 so can be and has been done

That was Milford ...should have been given ... but of the the other 20 plus!!!!.. not worked. Much better ratio 40/20
Considered too risky a play by nrl coaches

When was the last time we saw an optional 20mtr restart with a kick to touch? 7 tackle play is preffered option, but the rule is still there. Does not say it will never be used! And with a decent kicker its still an option for a team stuck in the red zone. Booting down field into arms of the full back is not the better option. Dont see it as being a too risky play, just one thats harder to achieve, hence the reward.
If you are having to kick from that position its because you are in trouble, so getting a decent kick away is always going to be hard.
As for the Milford one, if you dont see it you cant give it!
