In my experience most football fans hate Rugby and this is the problem. You say the word Rugby and it doesn't matter if it's followed by League or Union they have already switched off and don't want to know.

We're in a tricky position as both RU and Football look at us with suspicion.

What we need to do is raise our profile locally (Richmond college now have sponsor adverts at Twickenham station ) and get out and about pushing the product and the experience.

I'm sorry to say but in my humble opinion, I don't think you could be more wrong with any of these, especially the last one. [/code]

Last quote was mine and I am puzzled as to why you think promoting the game to the 250k odd local residents is a "wrong" thing to do?
Why try to sell RL in TW2 to London when we have an average of (real average, excluding the odd bumper crowd) of about 3,600 at home games. Try to get 3,000 more locals in, THEN promote the game when the stadium doesn't look like a ghost town.
I know for a fact that 1 representitive of the RFL has single handedly raised the profile of the Club with their activities in the run up to manly. With little or no budget, this person has slogged their guts out and as a result I believe we will see a few returnees back at the stoop for the Wigan game and more thereafter.
We do not have the funds to advertise London wide, so why try it? Stick to people who can get to the Stoop inside 30 minutes to start with....then look at the bigger picture.

I agree Gutters, however if we did have some money we could attempt to get to the rest of London + tourists etc, no other RL team in the world has a market of 7 million on it's doorstep!

PS I see Time Out has dropped its sport section, there goes another window to advertise the game, it does not get any easier.

Alas, we have no money to spend on advertising and there's the crux of the problem. In the current climate, clever companies will increase their promotional activity and cut back in other areas to balance the spend....Quins RL have no areas where we can cut back so we have no chance of getting any additional exposure unless it is done by the volunteers or Ady, the one man marketing machine for the RFL!!
I still say it can be done on a shoestring, but it needs a lot of planning and the buy-in from our Union brothers to offer assistance.
I know it's been banged on about, but we have corporate boxes sitting empty (1 sold last year). Not sure of ther price of sandwiches and coffee, but I would think £5 a head would cover a buffet type offering, so why not invite Richmond Chamber of Commerce to a game.
They are currently promoting THIS which is something I mentioned over 2 years ago  and obviously our Union cousins (who are members) have SOLD the venue to them.
If we can wrangle a stand at this expo, we should promote our corp hospitality to these Local business leaders, as well as giving every visitor to the expo a free book of 5 tickets to a game.

Anyway, back on thread. I have begun to listen to the online crystal set thingy recommended by some on here and I must say, it is rather good entertainment.

well someone has been taking note............

Talk Sport about 9.45 am today and, amidst a raft of Rugby League based emails and texts that were being read out, one pops up from a 'Quins fan' stating Rugby League is the greatest game of all.

Expect to see some horrible, violent, partisan, uneducated and generally scruffy football fans at the Stoop in the near future !
