Right then.
For those not aware, Ady Spencer, Bronco alumni, worked his butt off to get the gate we had last weekend and has now ridden off into the RFL London sunset to do what he was really paid to do. Also, the London Skolars attendance was decimated as a result of the Manly Game, so in a way, we owe them one. Plus....The Skolars are the instigators of the City challenge......Plus...I could go on, but you get the idea So, I have a request to all those of us who do not plan to travel to the away game on the 22nd of March (let's face it, they don't bring many to us ). Please consider THIS as an alternative. For those who do not use facebook...details below: Event Info Host: London Rugby League Time and Place Date: 22 March 2009 Time: 12:00 - 20:00 Location: Whitehart Lane Community Sports Centre Street: White Hart Lane Town/City: London, United Kingdom Sunday the 22nd of March will see Rugby League celebrate its rich history in the capital. Taking place at the White Hart Lane Community Sports Centre, London Skolars, in conjunction with LondonRL, will host the inaugural London Rugby League Heritage Day, a gathering of the great and the good of London RL both past and present. The first of its kind, the event will become an annual occasion to commemorate the strong roots that Rugby League has developed in the South. The day will include a number of initiatives, most pertinently the brand new London Rugby League Museum where memorabilia from all London & the South clubs will be showcased. On top of this, the Bob Evans Memorial Trophy for services to London RL, will be re-established and will be presented at half time during the Co-operative Championship 1 game between London Skolars and Swinton Lions. Also taking place on the day will be a ‘Masters’ game of Rugby League between London Skolars and Fulham/Crusaders/Broncos/QuinsRL past players. Masters Rugby League is 13-a-side contact rugby with some rule modifications changes, including a 5m line rule instead of 10m and different tackle rules depending on the age of the competitor. The age of the players are identified by different coloured shorts. Already confirmed for the game are former Fulham RLFC Superstar Hussein M’Barki, former Bronco Junior Paul, former Skolars and Broncos player Ady Spencer as well as one time Crusaders stalwart Daryl Pitt. Darryl Pitt said “This annual event celebrating the game’s brief but colourful history in London is an acknowledgement of the efforts of everyone from loyal rugby league supporters through to the professional players in every era.” Also incorporated into the celebration will be the Highgate Wood Family Rugby League Festival, featuring a boys and girls tournament highlighting the Rugby League activity in Haringey. The day’s beer festival will ensure a chance for celebration for everyone involved in London RL and an opportunity to catch up with some old and familiar faces from years gone by.
