Thoughts of an away day virgin : Mon Apr 27, 2009 8:46 am
Received this email over the weekend:
After a long time of "wanting to go to a Quins RL away match" but never actually doing anything about it, the opportunity of an organised coach trip to the game at Celtic Crusaders on Easter Monday, for £15, seemed too good to turn down. The trip, completely organised by supporters, saw a large group of us gather at The Twickenham Stoop at 10am. There was a large community atmosphere and for myself and my fellow "away trip virgins", it was great to finally be able to put faces to names. The coach was a double decker, extremely comfortable and came with DVD player on board, so were kept entertained on the journey to Bridgend with several RL DVDs. Arriving at the Brewery Field around forty-five minutes before kick-off, it was heartening to see several hundred more Quins supporters who had made the journey and we took over the middle part of the terracing at the ground. An superb atmosphere and banter between both sets of fans before and after was made even better by an excellent Quins performance and a 40-18 win. With an hour after the game before the "Fun Bus" departed, we all mixed with the Celtic Crusaders supporters in their homely bar, and there was a real sense of natural comradeship with the two clubs being the only non-Northern English Super League clubs. The day was topped off by Chad Randall and Chris Melling coming into the bar to personally thank us for our incredible volume of support on the day - something which even the Celtic Crusaders supporters admitted was just superb. Arrival back at The Twickenham Stoop at 9.15pm brought an excellent day to its end. Everything about the day symbolised everything that is great about our club - camaraderie between supporters and sheer determination to support the great sport which is Rugby League in London. Cheers, Ben ____________________________________________________________ The bus holds 72 people and we need 60 to ensure we cover the cost of the trip to Hull Kingston Rovers......so, if you are still mulling this over, stop it, email quinsrl_awaycrew@hotmail.co.uk and jump on the Gutterfax Express!
