Was hoping the Celts would break their duck against Cas today but after a promising start they seem to have folded. Wakey didnt beat the Pies for us and Hudds havnt kept their form going by beating the Wire. Looks like Brian Smith has gone to Wire too soon for us.
Only bright spot is HKR stopping the Catalans from creeping back up on us.

Two points next week against Salford should put us in a healthy position though:wink:

Who is Brian Smith? Quins v Wire is the last regular game of the season, so 'too soon' could have been any game until then!

I'm quite happy celts haven't broke their duck and I'd be happy to see that continue till after two games time after they have been to the stoop, as much as I hate the pies winning I'm happy they took points of wakey too as it makes it more likely quins catch wakey.

But if Catalans had won today we'd be only one point behind HKR, so how does that result benefit us? I think the reality is that there's little to choose between most teams; we just need to concentrate on reproducing the sort of disciplined performances that saw us to victory against the better teams we've beaten so far, i.e. Cas, Hull, Leeds. If we'd defended as we did in those games in the home defeats against Wigan and Catalans that's an extra four points we'd have for starters. I suspect there may only be a handful of points between the teams finishing 5th and 10th in the final table so we need to concentrate on our own performance. I'm not really looking to anyone else to do us any favours position wise at the moment. Having already beaten Salford comfortably once this season we need to eradicate our all too familiar inconsistency by beating them again next weekend.

The next 5 games will determine whether we will be chasing a home play-off birth or struggling to make the 8 at all. Salford are better than they were at the start of the season so we will need to be on form and then away to wakey and home to saints will really test our credentials as the potential Grand Final winners that Big Mac says we are. If we emerge from these games with 6 points, then I believe the next 2, Celtic and HKR will be very winnable and put us on 22 points by mid june. If on the other hand, we loose the first 3, I can see our season coming to halt very quickly.

 I see so nothing to do with wire at all then, I did presume the OP meant Tony Smith but then he was incharge when Quins beat Wire at the stoop.

Agreed. Apart from the win over Leeds at the Stoop our season more or less came to a halt after losing to Catalans in Cardiff, despite a fairly decent start. With no CC involvement any players carrying knocks should get extra weekends to recover when those games are on, the whole squad gets a bit extra recovery time and 6-8 points from the next 5 games should put us in a very handy place indeed.

Leeds at home in June a full month before the saints game will be important IMO, they will be smarting from the beating. But i still think Leeds and Saints will finish clear of the crowd. The games mentioned against HKR and Trinity i think are the true test of where Quins are this season.
