Ok just come back from HMS Dolphin down in Gosport! SEME Borden 28 - Collingwood 32 bloody good game as well, altho weather was rubbish

BUT
on to the main thing, very interesting in the foyer of the gym at Dolphin (Submariners training unit) notice up from London Irish, offering half price tickets for any mil folk! have to be pre booked and collected at the ticket office with presentation of ID card.
I can only assume that they do this at all the Navy units down there

Thoughts on if it would be a good idea for the Harlequins Rugby League
Units within sensible distance that actually play rugby league
Navy! Collingwood, Sultan, HMNB portsmouth

Army teams based at Arboufield, Bordon, Aldershot, Worthy Down, larkhill, bit further afield at Blandford, bovington, chatam

Raf teams at Benson and Lyneham

Thats 13 teams playing at mil units, never mind all the other units.

There is a massive market that could be tapped!
I know the club has pretty close ties with a couple of army units already and in current climate (help for heroes) I cannot see anyone having an issue with us targetting this audience
Very interesting as well Celtic ground being used by RM for there fixture against the Para's in June

seems like a good idea if it is on the cards, but would be interesting how theRU boys get on and if it generates many takers
As a season long idea maybe it could be considered rather than just 1 game

Shouldn't wait for forces day which is the last game of the season. We should be hitting them now - potential customers - potential ongoing fans

Theres an RAF Base at Northolt as well. thats even closer to London.

If they was to do a forces day, they should have IMO done it for the Celtic game as thats on 6th June (as we all know) and could have based it round D-day and all that. Plus maybe buckets on gates for Help the Heroes.

could if time it right in Sept,do the same thing and base it round Battle of Britain for the sevices.

And just do what mickyb said and get them to show ID at gate,get half price ticket, could really just have 1 gate for them in ground thats not nomrally open for this (i.e Lexus Stand end), could go as far as to give them a raffle ticket intitleing them to one free beer.

And as an ex serviceman i can tell you once you had a free beer you go back for more.

Nah I just think its interesting that Irish do it, why dont we give it a try?
Anybody from the club reading, if you need a contact to liase i can do it through work and through the Joint Service Rugby League officials, we get to all the units that are curently playing and can get access to those that are not

Go on take the plunge, I would be willing to do some of the donkey work

WHere I work is the main passenger transport hub for all mill passengers, I also have easy access 2 the airbase in wilts, and will be at aldershot, benson and back down in pompey this month alone! Getting information posted around the units might get bums on seats. Its free promotion opportunity
