I agree. I would hope people turn out in force for it. As Jon suggested, Castleford should be the opposition - and I agree, and would look forward to it.

Only slightly straying OT but still relevant to Jon's playing career, has anyone got any details on his international appearances for the USA Tomahawks??, i.e how many and against which teams

Yes! He is a USA international apparently, reason I know I have a friend in the States who is a RL fan and also played for the Tomahawks but is unable to fill the gaps for me as he played for the USA pre Wells.
Jon is listed in the USA side for the 2007 RL World Cup Qualifiers. What I'd like to know is if he played for the USA prior to that and how he qualified. (There were a few Castleford/ex Castleford players in the side that year as Matterson was on the USA coaching staff, appears that some of the call ups were a bit dubious!)

Can't recall JW playing for the USA in the 2000 World Cup, do recall a Mr Retchless and [iirc] a Mr Millard playing for them though [on a fugging freezing night in Oxford vs Canada I think]

I was there too, I think, 13th Nov. 2000. Remember Steelo playing but not Wellsi. BBC website says USA won 52-10.

Steelo even scored 3 tries for them - one in the 40-16 defeat by Italy and 2 in the 50-10 victory over Morrocco.

Count me in as part of that crowd, too. I know the 2000 World Cup was damaging in terms of both finance and credibility, but it was nice to go to games at the likes of Oxford, Reading and Gloucester-under-Water.
