First half performance was the worst I can recall seeing from Broncos/Quins. It was truly depressing. Saints were scoring almost at will, aided by the penalty count and a couple of 40/20s that we didn't have any defensive position set for. The 30 mins would have been when Saints scored their 5th or 6th try (don't know which but it felt like about the 12th anyway).

We had a few key players out but Saints had more missing.

First half was Men against Boys. Totally agree that Luke Dorn didn't get going until Danny Orr returned.

The first half could be summed up by a comment that someone sat next to me watching their first ever game of RL made:

"Why are the men in multi-coloured shirts running straight into the men in green shirts, whereas the men in the green shirts are running straight through the gaps between the men in multi coloured shirts?"

As for the second half, to be honest I think it was more a case of Saints being 34-0 up and the match won, so they didn't need to get out of fifth gear.

Still, at least behind me in the executive boxes there was a Union fan who made me laugh when I overheard him explain to a woman:

"Oh yes, well they used to be London Broncos, and played their home matches at Wembley Stadium. I think they were linked to an American Football team originally."

All clubs with our level of support are reliant on 2 to 3 players as they don't have the resources to recruit suitable back-up.

Might be reliant on a couple of players for go forward but they are not essential for our defence. Yesterday in first half it was pretty woeful. Too many penalties being given away and in quick succession. We seem unable to play the ref. Laying on and hands in. And then some woeful choices in who to tackle.

The best way to play that clown would have been to keep passing the ball forward. One of Saints' tries was like watching a series of baton exchanges in a sprint relay.
