our superior fitness will see us through

I do hope that was a tongue in cheeck joke. Fev were suoperior their defence was so slick

We were woeful once more a 30 minute game. :DEPRESSED:

Nope. On paper we should have superior fitness as we're full time professionals. On paper we should have won. Both have been ticked off the list on paper.

The reason we lose in the last 20 has been explained by Wire Quin on another thread. Fitness is not why we lose or capitulate in other games.

Well done London. Even if you didn't play well. Sounds like our defence was excellent in the first half. No one bar Mark Rammond and Tony Rea has given us credit for that.

have to agree, the attacking play was woeful but in defence, a gutsy effort to keep a determined team who dominated possession and territory to just 4 points, lower division or otherwise. still hard to be enthused about the first half performance on the whole though. second half obviously far better, dorn added a lot of spark. frustrating though that if we'd played as we did for the last try for the whole game ie backs lined up deep, spread the ball quickly aka BASIC ATTACKING RUGBY LEAGUE then we might have made the scoreline look a bit more comfortable. if you give dixon any sort of space on the outside hes liable to score- getting the ball to him on the wing as fast as possible should be the aim of any attacking move beginning on the opposite side

end of the day, solid viewing as a contest if not a spectacle, and a win's a win. probably not going to see too many more of them over the season so may as well savour it :D :HIGHFIVE:

full credit to fev today, they were the hungrier side and enjoyed seeing their team spirit in effect, celebrating every little thing on the field that went their way, especially in the first half when they were fresh and clearly very fired up for it. credit to their fans for travelling in good number too, enjoyed the atmosphere they created.

oh and finally, award for strangest running technique- will lovell

Fev completion rate in the first half was 17 from 17. Amazing. Unfortunately when they got to our 20 they came up against a well drilled defence who to be fair looked comfortable.

The game played out how I thought it would other than expecting Fev to buckle at the 15-20 min point, they kept going to the 40.
The second half was all London

I suspect had that game been played at Fev we would be auctioning the shirts Mon!

Re: v FEATHERSTONE : Sun Apr 21, 2013 8:49 pm
At half time I thought that we were using the first half to practice defence skills. Either that or trying to find how many ways there were to hand over possession.

Maybe that explains TR's mysterious quote "It may sound a bit strange but I thought the first 20 minutes was the best 20 minutes I've seen for a long time from us".

When we got this draw I thought it was a great one for us and so it proved. Sheffield at home next round?

Fev were excellent, so were their fans.

I was particularly interested in the fact that Shaun Edwards presented the shirts to the team. This did not seem to inspire them. I was fortunate to train alongside Mr Edwards a few times in the 1990s and he is inspiring company. Except if you are in the current Broncos squad it seems. That's rather sad.

Thought the Fev number 4, Greg Worthington was excellent. Looked like a proper centre, not much meat on him but he gave us problems all afternoon. Wonder if he fancies the smoke?

Heard you very nearly signed him last year.
