hello

......In this weeks SL Backchat programme.

There is a clear point made by Andy Wilson and Martyn Sadler in the first few minutes of the programme, hinting at a restructure headed by Brian Barwick for the 2015 season, wonder what they have up their sleeves.

Don't be surprised to see a centrally funded London team in the top tier. When Brian Barwick was interviewed on Boots n All and the question was posed regarding the off field performance or lack of from the Broncos he delibaratly avoided answering, I read into it that he had something up his sleeve or at least had some inside knowledge.

Despite the poor off field performances of the Broncos, I think they'll be kept in simply because, if the whole point of the restructure is to attract more sponsorship and monies into SL it would be counterproductive to leave out the only team which gives the league national scope, therefore they will strengthen London.

I agree completely. London must be retained and its management reformed with a bit of money injected by the RFL.

London also needs a 20% loading on its salary cap because of the higher cost of living in London.

Nigel Wood already ruled it out.

If you want to know why they are going to 12 teams, it's because clubs like Salford, Wakefield and Bradford have flirted with bankruptcy.

The TV money goes further split 12 ways rather than 14.

TV money goes nowhere if it doesn't come in.

Play the game on the old coal mines and you will only get look North West sponsoring the sport.

There is evidence that Sky are pulling back coverage of RL, they were not interested in the World Cup, they do not seem that keen on the Challenge Cup, BBC are also reducing games covered in Challenge Cup, the likes of Brut aftershave are not going to rescue the game.

The game needs to look at itself seriously, first the person who has governed over this recent period of disaster for the game Nigel Woods has to go! we need someone fresh with new ideas how to push the game forward.

We know many in the North would like to see the back of London, they never consider how long the club has been going compared to clubs in the North, if London is kicked out, I wonder how long before the game has to go back to being semi-pro and how do you hold on to young players then? People love to keep their heads in the sand,

Big decisions ahoy! Sky may be decide whether we stay in SL! We need re-structuring as much as the game does. We are not the only basket case!

Nigel never comes across as much of a strategic thinker. If Barwick comes up with some well thought out restructuring proposals, Nigel could find himself being side-lined. Or "stepping aside" as they say at the BBC.

Yes, but that's how it is now with Broncos in the league. The last sponsor was a Harrogate based insurance company that I had never heard of and I'm from Harrogate. There really is nothing to lose.

It's not impossible but I doubt that Nigel would have ruled it out if he hadn't cleared it with his boss beforehand.
