My initial thoughts, as a supporter, are that Wigan are looking as vulnerable as they have ever been in the past two years and they seem to be very well conditioned but can sometimes be seen as a relatively light pack.They have lost three from six including games against Castleford and St Helens and one of their three wins was stolen on the hooter against Bradford. These are all teams that London have beaten.
There could be an opportunity.
However, when you look at London, you'd have to note that we have only won about 10 games out of 50 against Super League level opposition with the majority of our squad over the past two years.
It would be stating the obvious to say we have had a limited squad on the field for many of these games.
These tend to be the games when we have multiple academy players in the forwards plus short term or poor quality players in the backs and they result in a loss. When also interchange bench lacks a second Hooker and two battle hardened props we tend to also not cover the handicap.
In this game, the Bench looks to be strong enough for us to replace like with like, which is a great thing, so we have every chance of covering the handicap and fronting up against Wigan.
But to have a realistic chance, the four outside backs will have to have the game of their lives. In simple terms, Charnley and Tomkins have more speed and evasiveness and if they break through, we have almost no chance of running them down. Our tackle completion rate must be as high as it has ever been.
