Wasn't a certain try. Oscar Thomas was running through treacle by that stage. He may not have reached the tryline for another 6 or 7 minutes.

Too far away for me to comment on the contact but Oscar was certainly well out of gas, another couple of defenders were closing in, and i think there was no Broncos support around.

I was surprised how slow he became. A proper RL off-season should fix that.

15 -20 meters out and all defenders and attakers running in the same direction.......it was a try saving foul play. The fact that it wad dangerous contact with the head makes it a card........the colour of which depends on the ref in charge.
Put it this way, if hed been tackled fairly the bradford lad would.have held him down to slow the ball..........

A match DVD, as produced for the Leeds game, would answer a few questions.

He wasn't going to make the line. Still a red card.

From what I saw part of the reason he got hit was he seemed to have stopped running (out of gas) and was ducking down and trying to spin back in another direction. Correct decision by ref.

Re: The Oscar Thomas flattening : Thu Sep 18, 2014 5:00 pm
why red card?
Even had the Bradford payer laid on to slow the play the ball was not a professional foul as there was no support player there to take the ball should he have been able to play it at the normal speed. By the time any supporting attacking player would have got there then then enough of the Bradford defenders would have been in position to negate pro foul.
As for contact with the head, yes its the defenders responsibility to pull out if contact with head is going to be made, Thomas changed direction and fell over, no excuse for head shot, but any ref worth his salt as you put it would have made exactly the same decision.
