This looks like where we are after Dewsbury.

Took me a while to find the rules so copied here to save others the bother:
RFL Rules Section A1: Club Obligations / League Structure Clause 8:
(h) At the end of the Regular Season the bottom 8 Championship Clubs shall then play in the Championship Shield. Each Club shall play each of the other 7 Clubs once with the 4 highest ranking Clubs at the end of the Regular Season having 4 home Matches and the 4 lowest ranking Clubs having 3 home Matches. Points accrued in the Regular Season shall be carried over to the Championship Shield.

(i) At the end of the Championship Shield league the top 4 Clubs shall play in the Championship Shield Semi-Finals. The Club ranked 1st shall play the Club ranked 4th and the Club ranked 2nd shall play the Club ranked 3rd with the Clubs ranked 1st and 2nd having home advantage. The winners of those matches shall participate in the Championship Shield Final (at a venue determined by the RFL) to determine the Championship Shield winner.

(j) At the end of the Championship Shield league the bottom 2 Clubs shall be automatically relegated to League 1 for the following Season. For the avoidance of doubt the Clubs finishing in 1st to 6th shall start the following Season in the Championship.

Thanks for finding that. Doesn't exactly set the pulses racing. Which, now that I think about it, must be a bit like the championship clubs fans felt when they had play-offs but no prospect of promotion.

And last year if you finished 15th you were awarded for that but not offered any progress. Crazy as the system is it notionally offers others a chance. Wether the chance is actually a mirage will be seen shortly.

For statistical purposes, If we win our last two games and Batley and Hunslet do the same, when it gets to the releg8s we only need to win one game to avoid the drop. Whoop, whoop. Every minute.... Ticks by.

I understand what the RFL are doing regards the Championship Shield. Creating a competition to try to generate some enthusiasm for clubs who have basically failed in the league and not made the play offs.
No matter how hard they try to dress it up. It is the Shield of Shame.

EDIT : The stuff below the double line may be based on a false assumption on my part.
Seems that the whole season record is carried forward not just games between Shield members. (Not sensible IMO.)

Anyway, I'll leave this stuff here, having taken the trouble to work it out.

According to me (E&OE), based on results on Sporting Life, we'll be going into the Shield competition with a record of P14, W9, L5. So 18 pts. to start.

Doncaster H
Workington H
Batley H
Featherstone A
Hunslet A
Hunslet H
Doncaster A

Whitehaven H

Losses:
All the others, so a double by Dewsbury, plus Workington A, Featherstone H, Whitehaven A.
