The sports section of todays Daily Telegraph has a big article on the back page. Regarding the BBC program "Once we were lions". Alan Tyres the author is quite taken by the sport and has great respect for the players who give their all for the game.Quite telling is how he states that Rugby League is for people in the South a TV sport and he thankfully he was not made to play it at school. Too tough for him.
His memories of RL are Eddie Waring, Ray French etc. Names like Featherstone Rovers, Castleford and Wigan.
It says a lot that Broncos or Scholars fail to get a mention in the article. This is our problem.
However it is a good article and I recommend people to read it if they can.
