London Free-sheets : Wed Jun 24, 2009 8:24 am
1. Last night, one of the free papers (can't recall which one) had a paragraph (5 column inches) on Hock's druggy fixation and The Skolars losing their coach. Yet again, the only stories these guys carry is negative and something needs to be done about it. When we spanked Leeds at theirs, nothing. When we went 4th in the League....nothing, but the minute a player who nobody inside London knows is caught doing a Kate Moss.....they jump on it. The recent Bath player fiasco over drugs got less space than Hock did last night
2. Metro today carrries a "wrapper" (4 pages outside the main cover) for Qantas. This is normally sold at between £250 and £400k and would point to the Airline starting a push to promote winter sun holidays down under. With the recent tie in with Virgin Airways does anyone else think there should be a tie in with Qantas....at least for the Down Under day when Saints come to town? There are currently 12 life size Kanagaroos scattered around town as part of the Qantas campaign and if you name 4 places where thay can be seen you are entered into a draw for a £9k trip. Maybe (and hindsight is great) we should have given a free ticket to the Quins v Saints game to everyone who entered the competition......at the very least we would have got a mention in their advertising.
3. Sport magazine has re-appeared on the streets on Fridays. The new owners, UTV, own Talk sport and represent a great opportunity to get in early (while they are being hammered on the revenue side) and cut a deal.
Let's hope PB is on the ball here. The Splash page on the Quins site is great, but it will only be seen by Quins fans (and the occassional numpty Australian troll).

Maybe now a 'certain' person has lost his job at SatxxxxTV he might come back to QRL back office as he is a proper 'journo' unlike the body in place now.

Anyway I'm abourt to move across to the Telstra 'BIG POND' website to get the 'live' feed of the 11am KO coverage of SoO2!!

Well done NRL.....you think about the fans.

Yeah, why not.

Unfortunately, getting it done is the really hard part.

SALES is not an easy business. If it were, everyone would be doing it.

Perhaps QRL should 'offer' a weekly col. by one or other of the teams local players. It could even be 'ghosted' by our current pr guru.

Then every home game should be marked with a three double ticket draw - the winners visit needs VIP treatment & to be 'hosted' by a player etc Then they should be offered a discount package for either rest of season or the following one.

Marketing ideas are easy but need not only implemention but carefully 'targeted' research.

While on the subject of research believe it's ages since the Club did any real market research with the existing fan base. It needs four/five 'qualitative' groups and from these findings a in-depth 'quantitative' questioner needs to be sent to our 'fan' base......and if possible the e-mail fan lists from earlier seasons - though it will require that each yearly list be 'cleaned' to asvoid duplication!!

Agree, but what is needed is a 'rolling' planed programme.

Anyway many of us are going to miss your contributions to the promotion of QRL when you wander down to the 'Land of the White Cloud'!!
