A very gloomy Tony Clubb on Boots n All : Wed Jul 10, 2013 9:57 pm
Anyone else see it? He said it was probably time for him to leave the club - no surprise there after recent rumours - but what really worried me was that you didnt have to read between the lines to realise the players think there is a very real threat of the club going tits up this offseason. He was saying how older players could get themselves sorted elsewhere but he was very worried about the young kids just coming through as who was going to take them on. Very very worrying interview.

Watched it too, very depressing. His interview and body language was awful for our captain. :(

After realising that Skolars and Hemel are likely to shortly be in the dumping ground for those not strong enough for Nigel and Ralph's new world order, I thought I couldn't feel any more depressed. I should have avoided this thread.

Bizarre that the Clubb would let him say that before a major match. Not good for morale. Still he is saying stuff that we have deduced on here already. Let's enjoy what is left and memorize the routes to the Skolars, Hemel and Oxford!

Those about to die salute you.

I think we should organise a 'wake' for the last home game. Everyone loves a party and we should go out in style!

My contact inside a northern SL team still expects us to be around next season. The expectation is a solution will be found to enable us to hobble through next season - the impact of a 13 team league on Magic Weekend is focusing minds.

We have no exemption from relegation in 2014. Given we are unlikely to be able to offer more than a one year contract, and with the club probably looking to cut costs, I'd suggest not finishing bottom two next season would be a major achievement. If we finish bottom two we will be relegated.

The club would however be well advised not to upset other SL teams at the moment. We may yet need all the friends we can find to make it to the starting line in 2014.

Nigel Woods has ruled over failure the past few seasons, not just lack of major sponsors for the game and the clubs let him loose in this way! I see clubs going into admin trying to retain their place spending monies they do not have, also clubs getting promoted spending too much.

But I just can't believe what may happen to the second tier, we are going backwards!

Not sure I'm bothered much longer, it surprises me with Tony Clubb yesterday being so negative before such a big game, but we have no real clue what is going on.

Big Nigel will rule over the destruction of the game, what did he really for for Halifax when with then, in fact what did Ralph do with his club?

Twickers again will have the last laugh!

Demoralising interview. With such a negative attitude I'm not surprised we're bottom of the SL. The Sheffield lot when interviewed seemed to be dancing on air.

Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently.

The reaction of messrs Arthur, Cullen and McRae afterwards wasn't a bundle of laughs - they were commenting on how all our decent players were leaving at the end of the season. As to the Magic Weekend if (if!) we drop out, the solution's obvious - bring in the winners of the Northern Rail Cup to make up the numbers.

For the good of the future of the game there has to be a SL team in London, not just because I support London. Not because of Sky and advertising but the only way for the game to get bigger is with a decent international game. We haven't come close to beating the Aussies for years and the player pool has to expand for this to happen. It won't if the game retreats to M62, there has to be a pathway to the top of the pyramid down here
