For long periods this season TR has looked a like a noble but tragic character in a Shakespearean epic. With a club seemingly falling into the quicksand, senior players unable or unwilling to put in consistent performances and a sick-note rota that would make Holby City blush. He has had to throw in callow youths and manage the departure of his brooding and moody captain, mid-season. In all this he has borne with dignity and optimism, lesser coaches would have thrown the towel in long ago. To continue with the Bard theme, his prince has come with the arrival of Soward and there is a scintilla of a chance of a another Wembley opportunity.
Only Tony knows the full picture, with rumours of disciplinary problems, senior players only too keen to get away and the black hole that is next season. There are many, including me, who question his ability, but in this mangrove swamp of a club,
Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently. Rosa Luxemburg, 'Die russiche Revolution'.
Slightly off topic, but it was interesting to see our former secretary from the Chiswick era, Tim Lamb, next to him doing the stats - good to see one of the old crew still involved!

Tony Rea, I salute you!
Yes only Tony knows the full picture, we have made more advance on the pitch in the last few matches with Jamie Soward, he directs and inspires, and not just the younger players, none of that has come from Tony Rea?
So I will not join you in "saluting" in fact I thought it was saluting his departure, as he is never going to improve us his days as a coach seem to be over.
When Tony turned up as the zoo keeper at London Broncos, it was the case that he had 25 cages but 22 of them already had somebody else's animal in them. The somebody else was a community sports coach who was gullible and had been tricked. The previous owner had spunked away about £500,000 on the likes of Randall, Howell, Colbon and all the other chumps who never play.
Rea was not allowed to practice euthanasia. He was told that half of his animals would expire at the end of the 2013 season after which he could then go out again and find some new ones.
Of course, whilst his zoo went to pot, there would be criticism from the outside world.
But two of his new animals are the 'Magic Hat' Jamie Soward and Tommy Lee, so in fact he has recruited two of the club's best five players, whilst the other cheapo signing Alex Hurst has performed as expected.
We just need to rise two places next season, and we will be part of the competition from 2015 onwards.
At least we cannot be voted out in the new structure - win more games and we will stay up. After this there will be a glut of players on the market.
Tony will find good players for us - don't forget he has got a State of Origin winner here
Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity
Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike
SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done But he with a chuckle replied That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

Never mind that, the maths for an odd number of teams playing an odd number of games please

I believe in Tony and our club.
Keep taking the medication Mark and you will still keep believing, perhaps Tony will take you on his next holiday!
You think it was just Rea that persuaded Jamie to join us? I think it may have been a short term contract and being in the Capital of the country, rather than El St Helens, who would have loved him
In 2 and half games Jamie has done more for the team as I keep saying than Rea has done all season! organising the players, inspiring them, something Tony does not seem to be able to do all season! When it is time for Rea to go last time he was like a bad rash and would not go! which the blame must lie at David Hughes feet, who must be such a nice man with so much money, rather than do well as a club, he will not Sack People!
Finally do you know something that the rest of us and many players don't seem to know, does Rea? if we will even be here next season as a Club? the long promised announcement of our new home, which never materialises??
