London Broncos youngsters progress report : Wed Apr 30, 2014 8:28 pm
A few games in and just wondering how folks on here rate the youngsters performance this year. Which ones have impressed and which ones would you like to see more of. Which ones have still got work to do?

Just hope these young players get some more "inspiration" than I just got from listening to Tony Rea, interviewed by Ian Ramsdale before leaving yesterday to go to St Helens, "No Fear for the Future" I feel sorry for the players!

Those youngsters will be the back bone of the club in championship!
Especially if they get back some of last years released academy players that were due to go full time this year.
Joel Wicks will be back from injury soon, if he isn't all ready.
Cox is proving he is a quality player at Skolars.
Mooney doing the same at Oldham.
That's if other clubs don't snap them up!

Rebuild in championship with home grown talent.

Yes. We have the makings of a quality Championship team with plenty of Super League experience. If we could replace the loanees/overseas players with the names above and perhaps add some more Griffins, we'd look good a division down. It'd be great to keep Matt Cook too.

I think MCB, McMeeken, Krasniqi and Dollapi are already Super League quality - with room to get even better - and it'd be great to hold on to them (I'm assuming Dixon goes). Bishay, Wallace, Lovell and JWH are potentially high quality too.

Macani, I think, needs to be playing and gaining confidence in a settled position at Skolars/Hemel - he's being overplayed in different positions in Super League. In fact this is probably true for a few of the youngsters in the 'potential' category as Halfdan of t'wide embrace says on the Saints game thread.

But, overall, I'm encouraged about our chances for 2015 - Super League or Championship.

My worry is how many of these youngster could we lose at the end of the season, will there be any incentive to stay?

I don't understand why we let Mooney go in the first place TBH. He was rated in RLW magazine as one to watch for the 2014 season. so if that was the case im sure the club could have find away to hold on to him (after all we wasting money on Jamie O'C).
Cox I don't much about but if others feel was worth keeping that is good enough to me. We could have kept him then loaned him out to Skolars if needed be so could kept him match fit

Others on here know more than me but didn't Paddy move north to attend University, like Dennis Tuffour a few years back? I'm off to Oldham v Oxford on Sunday and will watch him with interest.

Edited to say the Roughyeds site confirms he is a student at Manchester. Possibly plan B if he was released by Broncos though.

Edited again to say Paddy won't play. He is probably out for three weeks with a back problem. Roughyeds have signed Nathan Mason on loan from Huddersfield as cover. A prop on loan, now there's an idea.

Mooney and Cox were rated as the best two props in their academy league.
Club were apparently signing both full time, until the obvious happened.
Both were playing reserve grade at 17 which shows ability.
The games I watched they dominated the middle of the pitch in attack and defence.
Both are now turning into big, mobile props/2nd rowers.
Cox is looking good at skolars, big hitter!! And I believe he's been training with broncos again.
Throw Shaun Keen(hooker) ,Joel wicks, JWH,into the mix with Joe Keyes and a few older heads and you've got a talented team.
If there is a club next year it could be full of home grown players.
