Huddersfield Thoughts : Sat May 10, 2014 6:29 pm
Not sure that we will get a better chance to win a game all season, we threw it away. The suicidal 5 minutes after half time undid 40 minutes of good work and we had ample opportunity to get back into the game but we failed to do so.To me, there are 2 main issues at present, neither of which I am confident can be addressed this season. Firstly, we carry too many inexperienced and weak defenders, especially on the outside edges. I won't name names but I am sure we can all identify them. Every week there is a calamity of some description and I can't see it ending.
Secondly, I've never known a London team so utterly clueless in attack. We laid a fantastic platform for our backs but we were absolutely terrible whenever we got near the Huddersfield line. Drinkwater is an absolutely awful player. His kicking is dreadful, today even worse than usual. Passing appalling. Hopeless defender. Cunningham isn't good enough to play 6. Farrar is abysmal. We have no potency whatsoever when it comes to attacking, it's painful to watch. We can't even execute simple plays correctly. I've noticed that several posters are persistently calling for '1 or 2 big ugly props' but I think this is a fallacy. We competed with and arguably overcame a big Huddersfield pack. We had no problems making yards, we fronted up well down the middle, no issues there. But supported by the tripe that plays 1-7, particularly in the halfbacks, we won't be winning a game this season.
Very frustrating afternoon.
