Disagree. You honestly think say a 6 year old child could pester there parents to attend a Rugby League match that they weren't going to attend in the first place because they wanted to see the half time entertainment?

Yes
People like GF spend millions on pester power every year mate, it is how it is targeted and what you do on the back end is the key to it.

We have major issues getting people thru the gates, anything that helps that doesn't do any harm, not that I'm standing up for who and what they have arranged, just the concept.

get The Apprentice and the BBC to bring down those group of muppets to try and market/sell tickets for a game and show it on tv.
The muppets might not do it but being on one of the biggest shows in England could help raise profile

im joking btw

Yes I understand the concept of pester power but it doesn't work in relation to Rugby League matches for the reasons I just posted.

Going by your logic a 6 year old would have the pester power to pursuade their parents to buy them a machete. Attending an RL match is a little different than pestering their parents for a toy.

Plus, how will children even find out about this kind of thing to pester their parents?

Won't work, waste of time, effort and money.

Pester power only seems to work with Merchandise.

the truth is you need to target the whole family in one go and that isn't easy. How do you appeal to two grown adults of which probably only one would be interested in the sport and appeal to their children in one market campaign.

Once you get them in Pestering power brings the bucks flying but it's the initial 'Get them in' that is the enigma

Whats wrong with just a normal half time contest? I found the 3 question thing and goal kicking competition far more entertaining.

With regards to kids, disagree about all this next generation of fans business, we need short term results fast, paying adults, not kids who might on the off chance continue to follow us and buy a season ticket in 10 years time.

I'm gunna agree with Listy

Quins HAVE to get a franchise spot in 2012 and one of the criteria the club need to meet is attendances, ok saying "We have a X% increase from 2008 to 2012" will look good but saying that we are attracting youngsters isn't so good, the club need to attract as many people to the club as physically possible until that time, and as I have said elsewhere the "Harlequins" brand isn't helping the introduction of new fans.

Missing the point mate, having had an ankle biter to originally enthuse into coming along to a game, not so she can watch it, but so that WE [adults] could, so in order that we could ensure that both could attend and not either have to leave one at home babysitting or go to extra expense with a sitter, we could encourage her to come by all the stuff that was on offer in the kids section inc the dancers.

The ankle biter wouldn't enthuse because they wouldn't log onto the Quins website in the first place. For a day out at The Stoop, the adults make the choice, not the kids. I can sort of see your point but if the adults were that bothered i'd think that they'd drag the child along anyway. Its not going to attract new supporters, IMO, so is therefore a waste of time.

Agree, and a few dancers aren't going to do much.
