| As a neutral who also wants Quins to do well this season, I confess I was shocked by Howell's hit on Tomkins. I think I've got so used to Quins being a clean team - they used to be our closest rivals where clean play was concerned (not any longer since we have slid downhill in that department!) - that it was quite a shock to see the elbow. He could get a few games for that, which is not what you need.
One thing though that Quins have which I don't think any other team has in such quantity is resilience. You could have done with playing a ton better than you did in the first half but had you not had one player missing, with all the pressure that brings, your second half performance could have pulled you back into the game. But even so, your blokes just didn't give up even when they had two disallowed tries (one which should not have been). I thought Quins were amazing in the way they kept playing. And so fit to keep doing so with one man down.
I hope you get out of your dip soon and get back to winning ways.
PS: I think the Tomkins' brother's knee job might be picked up by the RFL. I hope so. He had no business doing that, whatever Howell did.

| Let me clarify what I posted.
Howell did lead with his forearm with the intention of knocking the ball out, but rode up over the ball into Tomkins jaw. (have a look in slow motion frame by frame)
I still agree it deserved a red card, I don’t think he intended to make contact with the head.

not in a million years was he going for the ball mate, absolutely no intent but to nail tomkins.
Am i correct in thinking that the referee had already blown for a penalty? I'm sure i heard the whilstle but then things kicked off so quickly.

| sorry les I am quins through and through
why would he try to elbow the bloke in the chest
Ok a moment of madness for the cocky little bugger
BUT
no excuse, as for the follow up by the wigan players there was an elbow in there as well to howell on the ground which i think could be followed up
still reckon 4-5 games, its gonna hurt us

| I thougt our team looked tired. We dropped a hell of a lot of ball. From the off a very weak Wigan team were getting over us in the contact.
We were dreadful. LMS went of after 16 mins having taken one hit up and didn't return until 60 odd minutes. He then dropped 2 simple passes.
Clubby was found wanting in the centre position. O'L break for there first try was Clubbys fault. He was marking space. Gafa soon went back to right centre & scored.
I think Mac should give them the weak off. Maybe get together Thu for a handling/tactics session. It makes me wonder if he has flogged them after the Wakey match. Something wasn't right from the KO.
A bad day at the office,

| 6 matches for Howell I suspect. His only defence will be no injury caused. Had he broke his jaw, well......

| Sorry Les, you are bang wrong.
Shocking 'tackle' and he fully deserved a straight red. I expect a hefty fine and ban, and he'll be lucky with that.
Point was made that Randall was closed down an awful lot and I think this is true. It did give Gale a lot more time and creativity, but as people have intimated, we never really got going.
Hopefully BM will see what's wrong and fix it, but tonight was not a great performance. Too many of the 'big' players went missing and Wigan deserved the two, by some distance.

yep fairly sure Ganson had blown for a forward pass so to double compound Howells brain fart the pen got turned as well allowing a score, which at 14-6 broke us.
