I think you'll find the board have been trying to find new investors for a fair while. If we sack the board we'll have no club the day after given our financial position. Strangely enough there isn't a huge queue of people looking to throw large sums of money down the plug hole that is professional RL in London. These ain't exactly the best of times economically either.

Release the players irrespective of contract length. Unless you can find a legal means of terminating their contract the only way to do that is to pay their contract up. If we do that how on earth do we afford replacements?

Low wages and high bonuses. I suspect we are already amongst the lowest payers in SL to be honest (with the exception of a few key players.) In theory this is a wonderful idea but in reality players offered two contracts will sign for the team who offer them higher basic pay. Given we already struggle to compete in the market, geographic reasons still cause a fair few targets to reject us even without money coming into it, moving to lower basic / high bonuses would cause even more problems. (I heard an interesting whisper yesterday that one SL team are currently struggling to recruit for next season - not us - as players offered contracts by them and anyone else are signing for the other team as there is a whisper going around RL players that said team has serious financial issues. Players talk to each other and if we are paying low word will soon go around try to avoid Quins.)

In a recent Interview (I believe in August 2009 RLW) David Hughes admitted Quins were towards the upper reaches of the salary cap.

Whilst the league position is not good we could after all be a Crusaders or Brudfud.

You also make a valid point regarding new or future investment in Quins RL.

As Crusaders Chief Executive admitted in a recent interview they are failing to achive their 4,500 gate "break even" target this season and are also on the hunt with RFL assistance for new investment. Hence their move to Newport RFC for next season

No, sack the BOARD or FIND NEW INVESTORS ....... who need to know the game and understand marketing.

Your definitions of "know the game" and "marketing" are?? Do new investors need to know this?? Or to have the help of experienced professionals in these fields to help them make these decisons??

Jaybs wrote:
We seriously have to pick up our game if we even think we are going to get a licence, next season is just so important, but if we have not found an investor by now, not pulled in the crowds are we going to do, the one unfortunate thing is the way the amateur and school RL has developed and grown, but we as the Professional club have never seem able to turn those around to be supporters and become fans?

As has previously been pointed out by others there is a gap between those who play at the amatuer level and those being fans at the professional level. My own view is that it's not about turning the RL amatuers into Superleague paying punters it's about making inroads into the local population, (Borough of Richmond pop approx 180,000, Borough of Kingston pop approx 158,000, Borough of Hounslow pop approx 220,000) making professional RL offordrable and accessible to a new viewing audience, some of which may be the RL amateurs.

What the amatuer game in the South can give us is a greater pool of potential professional playing talent. As anyone with an understanding of of the RLC (Rugby League Conference) will testify national league and superleague clubs are now recruiting both the adult and youth team players to their clubs.

The issues are not easy or quick to solve but as long as progress is being made and evidence of this can be shown to the licensing body at renewal time then Quins will remain a Super League side.

Again if supporters spoke with one voice they could work with the club to help ensure a superleague future for Quins RL, perhaps by targetting the half a million people who live in the Borough of Richmond the 2 adjoining boroughs........ to start with.

Keep the faith.

I have mentioned before that I heard this somewhere. Essentially it means we are paying the same wages as Saints and Leeds etc. and the best we BM can recruit are the present underperforming players?

Considering we lost Hill, Paul, McLinden etc. I shudder to think what we spent on Robinson and Williamson.

Hopefully, no where near what we were spending on thoughs 3.
We need another McLinden. Or the man himself back, if he's got back his fitness playing RU in Aus(highly doubt that) ;)

he wasnt even a great player and his coaching is even worse..

What relevance has his playing ability got to do with his coaching ability? Shall we start at the top teams in RL or football and go through each of the respective coach/managers playing ability- Potter, Ferguson for starters, Mclennan, Benetez..........
