I've gone all the way through that with tears in my eyes. Not tears of sadness but tears of laughter at how arrogant, stuck up and incorrect they all are. Am I right in thinking England v Italy had NO tries? And they claim that as a sport?
Moe...I have no quarrel with you, but on the point about RL fans having a chip on their shoulders, the poster is 100% spot on.
I am a Union convert (circa 2002).....I can honestly say I never gave RL anything other than a cursory glance on the BBC when the CC was on before I started following the Broncos.....I am not alone. I have probably brought in excess of 100 Unionites to Bronco/QuinsRL games and to a man, they all enjoyed themselves, but also admitted to not really giving RL a second thought prior to the game they attended.
Flip side is all I have to do is post on a thread on the VT or especially the aussie boards that the RLIF/RFL could learn from the IRB/RFU and I am immediately cast as a "UNION TROLL" although 99% of my posts on here are about growing RL.
RL fans are right to remember why the game split.......but jesus wept....look at the strides made by the posh lot in the years since open professionalism and compare it to League.......go onto the VT and check out the righteous indignation on show on the RBS thread. It has nothing to do with "public money" but a load to do with the SL not having a named sponsor and the RLWC scrambling around for scraps from the sponsorship table......if it were about "Public Money" then the BBC would be under fire as well.
By all means, continue to curse the other lot for past crimes, but don't deny the massive ship on both shoulders that many RL fans have, whilst Unionites really couldn't give a toss since they openly turned pro.
