A few dodgy refereeing decisions and some awful play by the Broncos (kicking out on the full, not finding touch with a penalty kick) meant Wigan were always going to be big winners.

Just not good enough on the day.

Watch for Sam Tomkins solo try on TV - worth the adnmission fee alone

Re: v WIGAN (H) : Sat May 18, 2013 4:52 pm
I think it was four great tries from Sam Tomkins (one of which possibly try of the season), and three others that were a result of Bronco's weakness to the high ball.

The Broncos were fairly decent in the middle, their right edge defence was less flakey than usual, and they didn't try any stupid glory passes out of the tackles. They missed touch a few times, kicked off with the ball going over the line.

One Wigan player went down towards the end due to cramp, which shows London put in an effort.

The Broncos played better than in the opening game against Widnes, and better than the 50 odd to Nil thumping we got from St Helens in the first game as Harlequins.

Wigan were just so good physically and technically.

We just keep going back to square one! BBC Radio London take the full game on all their frequencies, base their sports programme at the ground, commentator, Broncos player as co-commentator, two pitch side reporters and what do the listeners hear, a few friends based in London I know sent me a text saying they gave up just after half time, with they type of response why go to a game when you get Whacked like that! It's what's wrong with the game presently but I don't think the changes to Super League being pushed will be the answer.

Back to square one! that all the marketing in the world will not bring in new supporters & retain them with a beating like this afternoon and result as it was on paper!

If England got slaughtered at soccer by Brazil, with Pele scoring a wonder goal, I don't think people would say that. Sam Tomkins was worth the admission fee alone.

I agree we are at Year Zero again. The crowds aren't big enough at the Stoop, so we've nothing to lose by restarting at the Hive. Rae has hinted at a big clear out of players. At least we've got youngsters coming through.

And Wigan were playing two untested half backs. And they eased off in the second half. I noticed Gower giving his side a roasting after the first four scores, but he gave up when he got no response after that.

England is a different "ball game" all together! I watched Bale see us off and I enjoyed the game, it's just the scoreline difference today, now in Brazil beat England 15-1 that would be different. We have got to start again! but we need new investment! The Hive perhaps has the most potential, yes youngsters are coming through as long as we can hold on to them and Super League do not see us as the feeder club! Sam Tomkins will be a Major loss to the game if he went to Union!

That is drawing a very, very long bow.
