clubb has been one of our best meter makers, he is a very good prop. Sarginson looks electric and was going really well before his injury.

Did I say that?

And I'm not saying that it's not true, but any player who changes club, especially to a "big" club, is always going to sing the praises of his new employer. The OP doesn't know who said it, but if it was Clubb, well he left here bearing a grudge the size of his own ample form.

Well, I felt it was implied! Of course new employees big up their new boss, but I thought the player comments reflected the much more professional set up at Wigan. It never ceases to amaze me how little some speccies (in general, not you personally) can't understand how the 6 P rule is so vital. Unlike others I have an amount of sympathy with Clubb; he's trying to be a pro athlete and he's in a shambles of a set up. That's astonishingly frustrating if you want to do well in your chosen career. I got in trouble some years ago for telling my boss he was an incompetent lover , which he was, so I am biased.

Dennis Moran said similar things about our training all those years ago. It is fairly clear that for most of Dan`s time with us we had a chunk of players who took the money and ran. Not condusive to high tempo training. Don't blame Tony for deciding he`d had enough and wanted to enjoy the rest of his career tbh.

Tony clubb had made his intentions very clear to the club very early. He was not happy with the pay he was getting, as the only full capped player at the club he thought he should be on more than he was, the club did not agree. That quite probably contributed to a lack of motivation on his part as he toldthem in that case he wanted to move on.
I think a lot of the intensity and attitude especially at a club like wigan is the fact they have competition for squad places, and there is always the next young star pushing for a place.
sadly we dont really have that, so maybe that has an effect on effort levels on the training park

Micky, I take your point, but there is absolutely nothing stopping players putting in the extra work except themselves. Whether it be our game or any other, the outstanding performers may well have "talent" but they ally it to a tremendous work ethic. More difficult, perhaps, to shine in a team game than an individual sport, but if you get noticed at London you can join a team like Wigan.

True but the overall culture of the club has a influence. If you are at a club where nothing less than 100% is accepted you are likely to work harder than at one where the majority are going through the motions.
