Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently.

Where we play doesn't determine our nickname. Brentford are only called the B' s because that's how far their fans got with spelling where they come from. They liked the pretty animal picture next to the letter but sadly used the wrong pen in their attempts to colour it in.

It's ok, we don't hold it against them.

Oh dear me, no. Brentford have been the Bees since they were founded in 1888 as the winter sports section of the Brentford rowing Club, whose nickname it was.

Not seen that one, this is my reference to Brentford getting their name

It wasn’t the team’s dramatic stripes that accounted for the club’s nickname. A local scribe is supposedly to have so eloquently put it before the turn of the century: “ the busy bees of Brentford, B being an abbreviation for Brentford of course, are filling their hive with the honey of success”. Eloquent yes, true no. The nickname came about soon after Joe Gettins, who became a well known player for Middlesbrough and Millwall Athletic, and also a student at nearby Borough Road College, started to play for Brentford. Some of his college friends came to see him play and chanted the college’s ‘war-cry’ “Buck up B’s”. The local press took up the name, but misinterpreted ‘B’s’ for ‘Bees’, and so the latter was used from then..

To be pedantic, the newspaper quote's from 1900 - the club were denied promotion to the top division of the Southern league that year due to promotion be decided by the 'Test match' play-off system (sound familiar to anyone?). You may well be right about the nickname's origin as according to Graham Haynes and Geoff Buckingham's 'The Brentford Story 1889 - 1979' ( the club played its first game in November 1889 and may well have been founded in that year and not 1888) they were known as the Bonny Boys in the early 1890s.

Back to the original post. Work has just started on the West stand extension. The increased space may mean there will be room for Broncos HQ to move.

Um, your original post was about Underhill, but the stand extension must be at The Hive, so you mean Broncos could move offices (yet again!)?

Still nothing on training facilities. Maybe they'll just stick to Hampstead Heath?

Sorry I wasn't clear. The reason Broncos are at Underhill is because there was insufficient space at the hive at the time. With the second phase of work commencing then the additional space should mean Broncos can be based and train at the Hive.

Whatever happens Broncos are almost certainly moving offices from Underhill as it has been sold to become a school.

It was clear, just not explicit. Thanks anyway.

Broncos have had many "home" grounds but even more office locations.

Sadly the work at the Hive appears to be an extended canopy behind the stand rather than the full works. There is currently no evidence that the planning inspectorate has made a decision so the Hive are still waiting before they can start work properly.
A statement from TK is expected in the next few days so hopefully the situation will be clearer soon.

So AFAYK, London Broncos aren't based at Underhill any more and where the "New Offices" were going to be, there is now only a canopy
Keep us posted.....sounds like negotiations are getting to the interesting stage now. Maybe everyone could "hot desk"? Or we could have a port-a-cabin beside the actual offices as we did when we were at the Stoop the first time?
Brave new dawn......brave new dawn
