Perhaps The Scum got its story wrong. That would not be unknown

Hetherington said he was currently on a family holiday in Australia (his daughter lives just outside Sydney) but has also been able to use his time to meet with potential investors and I am confident of a successful outcome for London Broncos.

That sounds like (i) there is more than one potential investor, (ii) things are far from concluded and (iii) we should we be grateful for his efforts.

Perhaps Hughes might have done this sort of thing before his final dummy spit.

I’m not sure Eccles would go public with what he said if there wasn’t a deal close.

I didn't see anything on there website suggesting that the possible new owners were the Brisbane Broncos.
