Why would you want to get a bus from busier parts when the tube to Richmond or train to Twickers is fine?

Oh and Twickers is on the TFL network, you can buy thru routing from any tube staion, travelcards and passes work just fine too.

all trains that serve Twickers are South west trains which are not part of TfL oyster card system therefore not part of TfL

‘Pay as you go’ cannot generally be used on National Rail services and cannot be used on South West Trains services. After making a 'pay as you go' journey you must 'touch out' and buy a valid ticket before boarding a South West Trains service, otherwise you may be liable to a penalty fare.

The only reason i mention the transport links are because to some people that is an important budget factor especially for students and antipodean travellers

The only bit that doesn't work is the Pay As You Go feature, anyone who has a season ticket can use one, failing that you can but a paper travelcard at any tube and train station and a vast amount of other outlets. Most people would save money buying such a ticket.

Any public transport in London comes under TFL, just because SWT and TFL can sort out a deal for PAYG doesn't mean they are not.

This is the reason I feel the RFL really need to do more either to educate the clubs and their owners or actually setting something up to help and show the clubs what to do

I'm led to believe that they do - they have a unit that consults and they have masterclass/best practice sessions.

You've hit the nail on the head though - Owners take great pleasure in spending money on hiring players as that's where their interest lies. They don't ordinarily buy clubs as investments.

So - convincing them to spend on marketing is harder. It's ironic that a marketing spend ought to reduce their liabilities - e.g. spend 10k marketing every game, you'd hope to make more than 10k back on the back of it in increased spectators. Over the course of the season, their loss is lowered. Speculate to accumulate.

London Broncos averaged 5000+ in 1996 and 1997, why can't it be done again?

Granted - there was a certain buzz around the start of Super League and Union wasn't fully pro, but it's been done, it can be done again....

not strictly true that's why Boris is working hard to get them on board.
SWT comes under the National Rail Network which is a separate entity to TfL.

TFL oversees SWT's operations serving Greater London stations, their timetables serving these stations are also approved by TFL and they receive a large amount in subsidy via TFL for providing services for unprofitable services.

It does annoy me that you can't use a pay as you go Oyster on SWT - fortunately when travelling from home I get an all zones travel card included in the return journey from Maidstone to London. But if coming from Sheffield it makes more sense to buy a return to Twickenham from Victoria/Waterloo as the travel cards encompassing zone 5 are a rip off.

trains don't make money anyway that's no big secret.
The Tube network runs at a loss every year believe it or not, TfL makes its money from the Bus network. It's why i never understood the private sector wanting to run the trains.
