I'm sure I've heard the figure of £250k p.a. rent muttered. I suspect Esher would want a lot more than £750k for a share of the freehold of a site that big in that part of the world. I'm not an estate agent though and may be wrong.

The fact that we are leaving Twickers basically because we can't afford the rent (Forty-20 magazine) suggests that competing in two years time will be an achievement, never mind owning a share of our own ground.

Please please let me be wrong...........

I can't believe we would leave The Stoop becuase of the rent. If those figures are correct , we get a good deal.

Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently.

Esher sounds like a nice ground for a Championship club. Depending on what happens with DH and the next round of licencing, applications for which have, incidentally, to be in by the end of the year, would it be a convenient bolt hole for us or a potential phoenix club?

And now we know rather than guessing. YET:

Still coating off the CEO? Professionally and not personally of course.

Clearly it's a bit hypothetical given the current inhabitants have no confirmed plans to move out however........... Leyton Orient no longer own the stadium. It was transferred to a company controlled by their Chairman, who cited the amount of money he has lost on the club to date as the reason behind the transfer. Orient are now on a lease, 25 years from memory, initially free but with rent due to kick in around now. A pledge has been made that if the company profits from re-development funds will be shared with the club. Given both the holding company and football club would have a financial interest in redevelopment if the ground does become free...............

The flip side is it may not become free. Whilst the owner has talked about relocating due to West Ham moving in on their doorstep - I have seen Harlow cited as a possible new location - however the rules have changed since Wimbledon did their midnight flit to Milton Keynes and I'm not sure Leyton Orient would be allowed to relocate to Harlow permanently. (When Rotherham had to move to Sheffield a firm date was put in the agreement by which they had to be back in Rotherham or face potential expulsion from the football league, 5 years I think.)

Edited to add this link. The Leyton Orient Chairman is openly talking about re-locating.

can't bring yourself to admit that I was right though, can you

It was bolted on that they were protecting THEIR pitch....at some stage late last year, our CEO negotiated 12 more months at the stoop......if Harlequins got to include a clause that allowed them to move us at 2 days, or even 7 days notice, then he should be fired immediately IMHO......loving laughing stock of the professional sporting world is what he's single handedly turned the club into....1,136 fans is an undefendable attendance.

As for the professional side of things, as opposed to the personal, I don't know him on a personal level, but in his professional life, he is very much in the public domain and fair game......he's was keen to get a mention in dispatches after the Win at Castleford...
