Re: The Hive - Does anyone have any recent pics? : Mon Jul 22, 2013 5:07 pm
I don't believe it will be immediately by any means, probably more something for the second season. But I do know that the two terraces, which are leftover from when the site was being built for Wealdstone FC, are dwarfed by the new stand and, although they each hold 1500 people, the club don't see them as a permanent fixture by any means. The dilemma is whether or not it's worth transporting the South Stand from Underhill 7 miles across North London, or whether to build a whole new stand. The South Stand is a very modern stand (2008 I think), and would fit the Hive perfectly. It's designed to be taken apart and moved, as it was built with a view to moving it to the new stadium. However the club had in mind moving a few hundred yards at the time, not different borough of London! So they may decide it's not worth it. But I would imagine something will be built at the South End within the next year or so.
I'll be at the Hendon Friendly tomorrow so may be able to get some more info as to what the next phase of development will be. At present they are frantically trying to get all the remaining bits sorted for the start of the season on August 10th.
