Jim thank you for that very insightful input to a thread about a game against Haven.
You're welcome........I think you'll find that I didn't "drift" the thread, it was the whiny Hughes apologist who was crying to the moderators in a totally unrelated thread, because Hughes Tenure and his abilities as an owner were being questioned in another thread about us being homeless AGAIN.....I suggest you take up the drift with him. Maybe you could contact him on Twitter where there was apparently an avalanche of activity surrounding the Broncos. They do have nearly 14,000 followers on Twitter now......something that the whiner thinks is more important than the 657 who paid the landlord to watch the game!

My view of the game basically 2 good 20 minute halves balanced out by 2 very poor 20 minute halves, luckily haven could not exploit the poor 20 mins as well as they could. We tried extremely hard to lose this. Negatives first, we missed a leader out there again, not sure how to finish a set especially close to the line. Haven targeted Oscar in defence and for good reason. Again to many Penalties and dropped ball, we seem to be unable to play basic rugby. Positives, when we did click for the 20 mins each half it looked good, ptb was quick and we dominated the ruck in defence. Individually I thought ray nasso actually had a really good game, Barthue looks good, OT was inventive going forward. The pack looked pretty good overall making good mtrs in the tackle especially thackers. Not pretty and a bit frustrating but in the end a win.
Thanks for that. Woke up expecting us to have cruised to the 2 points and was shocked that we'd shipped over 20 points to Haven. Still, games like this will keep us honest going into the Releg8's in a few weeks. Is there any silverware on offer for winning the third 8? Not that I've totally given up on 4th, but realistically that's where we'll be.
I hope there is no silverware. "Congratulations, here is a trophy for being 5th best team in the league!!
Regarding us missing a leader, its a fair point and one that I think Hendo will address (he knows this as it was a reason he started playing). Looking back to the beginning of the year, Grima had his leadership group. I stand to be corrected but I think it included, Slyney, Mathers, Wes, Cordoba, Farrar and Adamson. (not sure about Foran??). Due to injuries and others sloping off we have Wes left!! Players like Thackray will help but we are still a young side and some of these guys have had to "grow up" fast but that will serve them well in time. Provided we hold onto to the nucleus of this squad I am happy playing staff wise next season but would like one or two more "old heads" on board. Lets not forget this is all new to Hendo aswell.

Oh dear definite drift in this thread. Post this in the new home thread and okay but this is the Haven game.

No trophy for fifth, but trophy when play in the eights. So win that and err effectively fifth!
We looked a little lost at times today and without clear direction. Cunningham and Walton may take some time to bed in. Walker I thought had his best game for us, started to look more comfortable in our style of play. His efforts opened up the space for Thomas to dance through. Walton looked to be on the fringes watching how others played before getting engaged. Can't believe that wasn't deliberate. Thackray was again key to everything, really has been an excellent signing. Number of other players like Garside and Hellewell are playing well, while Kear and Barthau are improving.

point of order: 2nd post in this thread referring to my posts in the new home thread and incorrectly claiming that such negative posts have driven fans away from this site. It's a blatant scream to the moderators from a whiny little apologist who won't debate the topic in its own thread.

Why discuss the game? when knocking Hughes and IF we may play at a different ground? no wonder so many people visit these days the site and Never post, there is a lot more discussion on twitter between fans and in much bigger numbers than here.
Think Micky's assessment spot on. Oscar is great growing forward, but his tackling near the line cost 2 tries. Agree that we lacked leadership. Walton and Cunningham did OK, I liked Bartheau and I agree thought Nasso had the best game I have seen him play.
Worryingly Lovegrow went off with what I suspect is concussion and Wes ended limping and didn't take last kick.
An entertaining game, especially for a neutral - but we are a schizophrenic team.....

It might be worth Hendo looking at moving OT when we are defending inside our own 20. In the NRL there are a number of half backs who get shifted away from the defensive hot spots.....Sando and Benji are 2 that immediately spring to mind.

Only problem with moving OT in the line is opposition do spot him so can't see the point. Wes plays on the fringes so not really best position to direct things. Lovegrove was a concussion he had his 15 mins and looks like the doc said no, he came back out changed so pretty clear cut, he seemed ok tho was chatting to nick slyney who was helping out radio Cumbria.
