Re: Back to Brentford? : Thu Oct 17, 2013 11:12 am
I really don't know whether this would be a good move.

Brentford have bought the Lionel Road site from Barratt Homes and are planning their stadium now. The new stadium is likely to hold 20,000 people, far too much for a London Rugby League Club. The Broncos have invested nothing into the acquisition of Lionel Road so how keen would they be to let the Broncos move with them?

On the other side, the Lionel Road development is being labelled as the Brentford Community Stadium so they may be keen to have a Rugby team jump into bed with them to make it more of a community based stadium but I'd imagine that any Rugby Union team would be seen as a better option than the Broncos at present. London Welsh have expressed an interest I believe.

I'm sure that the Griffin Park site will be sold off for housing when Brentford leave there so there would be almost no chance of the Broncos staying there and if the move to Lionel Road doesn't materialise, Griffin Park has been nothing more than a short term fix.

I think the next home for the Broncos has to be a long term move.

LW are laying roots in Oxford now. Not sure they are still in the frame.

LW have taken on the lease of the now closed Priory Pub next to the Kassam in Oxford and are moving their administrative centre to Oxford. Last year they frequented Oxford only on match days but this year there does seem to be a more permanent move. They also invested in the relaying of the pitch

There was talk in the summer that they may actually stay in Oxford at Oxford University RU which is also the home of Oxford RL but this went away with the agreement to remain at the Kassam

If London Broncos move back to Griffin Park I have a Flat they can lease across the road and use as offices if they like. It's only a 2 Bedroom with a fair size Living Room, but given the current staff list, it should provide ample space :D

Great it would do as a meeting place for the home supporter who might turn up

Selco, answer our prayers!

David Hughes - The Gerald Ratner of Rugby League? Discuss. Or not as the case may be.

If it was still being used for the forum he might have to talk to the fans.
