In some cases players were offered a lesser deal for next year and the worst case scenario for some of the club trained players was a deal which included both a salary cut and the removal of their accomodation in the club's owned houses around Finchley etc.
Clearly the housing removal from the table was motivated by the desire to free up the houses for external signings as we are likely to be signing Northern based players and overseas players. I'd be shocked if we haven't got a couple of Sheffield Eagles players given we've got two coaches from there for example. I'm guessing the club has thought, well there is no mandatory stipulation on club trained players so let's find the best players we can get within budget and risk losing those 20-23 year olds who are good but not great.
I'm guessing that we'll see some of them take the lesser terms through having no choice, perhaps it will be better for them to be full-time in London than part-time in the North, if they have ambition.
It's really tough on the loyal players like Olsi in particular
