Re: The Hive next season? : Thu May 16, 2013 2:50 pm
Some comments from BarnetSteve on The Barnet forum:

South underhill moving. Next year and corners being filled to make a bowl within the next few years. Negotiations with london broncos under way but they arent the only ones looking to groundshare, and if they come then membership will cover bronco games.

In the conversation I had about groundshare the guy said it was extremely likely that we would be groundsharing with a different sport. I said I'd heard about Broncos and he confirmed they were keen and negotiations were underway but it wasnt a done deal and if it didnt happen they werent the only option. We had a brief chat about the rumours that Tony had recently been looking at Wasps but I'm not convinced they are one of the interested parties as the Hive would be too small and I dont think the pitch would cope imo.

Freedom for supporters of the government, only for members of one party - however numerous they may be - is no freedom at all. freedom is always and exclusively for one who thinks differently.

Thanks for the update. The Hive looks the least bad option as things stand at the moment.

Interesting, chronicler. I am based in Chiswick and cycle to games at the moment. The Hive is 24 stops on the tube....worthwhile for a committed bunch of players, doubtful if some of the current team merit it....

Is 24 stops on the tube a problem? I come in to watch each home game from Cambridge. Why whinge if only coming in from Chiswick, FFS?

Hive = 3,500 seats....it signals the level of ambition at the club.....regardless of where those seats are!

Would it be too difficult to rationalise what you say, in the context of the figures you constantly regurgitate, something like

Hive = 3,500 seats, which given our current attendances is more than sufficient, particularly as ground capacity is over 5k. Hopefully the club will be aiming to fill this modest capacity week in week out, paying a reasonable rent for the privilege and investing in marketing and brand awareness, and in due course be looking to develop the ground further to meet increased demand. That would signal the level of ambition at the club.

It's a ground that is being developed. First phase, 5.6k; suggested second phase with corners filled, 7k. Training facilities are magnificent. Take out the personalities involved and the fact that it is yet another relocation - both are a given I'm afraid - and I would say that the Hive looks an increasingly exciting option as a base for years to come. Well, I'm excited anyway.

Still no idea as to why we are leaving the Stoop apart from the money rumour.

My view is that they have no need of us anymore, we are just small change nuisance.

2008/2009/2010 we would have been close to or actually filling the seats on 24 of 39 games.....rationalise the fact that of the last 33 games only 10 of them would have been in the same category.

The club has been dismantled to the extent where you are happy to accept a 3,500 seater stadium.....no ambition regardless of rationalisation!
