Barnaby

Lewis, Wood and Spencer have all recieved the following

I’m extremely surprised you have decided to allow Sky to move a Catalan game by 24 hours. Most who travel to France return on the Sun morning for Work on the Mon. Equally how often do Sky televise games on a Sun.

I’ve lost 2 flights as I’m unwilling to pay double the original price for a flight change. To make it worse the missus is fuming
http://forums.rlfans.com/viewtopic.php? ... c&start=15

Have a look at the above link to give you an idea of when bookings for France are made.

I’m sure you will pass on your apologies and tell me Sky have it written in there contract that they can change matches 4 weeks before, but surely you must retain some influence on the management of the game. I can’t think of any other business sector that would allow a contractor to be allowed to adversely impact the organisations reputation and product without recourse.

Yours disgruntled

Mine:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm sure you're receiving a number of mails on the date/time change for this fixture, but having lost £150 because of the change I'm afraid I'm going to add mine. Luckily I'm not returning until the Tuesday, so I'll have to write off a hotel and rail trip, but at least I'll see the game.

I can understand changing the kick off time, but how can anyone justify moving the date to a Sunday, and the time to a later kick off - in France?

It shows absolutely no respect for the travelling fans - and that's a disgrace..

Regards,

Chris Appleton

London.

From me they got:

I am writing to express my outrage at (what is apparently) Sky TV’s decision to switch the Catalans v Harlequins RL game from Saturday 18 to Sunday 19 July.

Like many other Quins fans (see here) I have already booked flights and accommodation for my family so that we can attend the game. Unlike a number of others, we are planning to stay on in the area for a few days so we will still be able to get to the match. Nevertheless we will have to rearrange accommodation and travel while we are there which will cause both extra inconvenience and expense.

Whilst I realise that Sky TV have a contractual right to switch games as and when they see fit I think it is appalling that no consideration whatsoever is given to the impact of such decisions on the ordinary fan (ie the people who keep the game alive, both as paying spectators and sky viewers).

I would respectfully suggest that Sky TV offer compensation to those supporters who have been affected by this decision.

Yours faithfully ...

I sent this at the weekend and still haven't had a reply from Sky, the RFL or the club. Not that I'm surprised about that!

Its worrying but not suprising the silence from the club. They should be leading the crusade on behalf of the fans. Instead all we have seen is a two line comment on the website asking people to tell their friends that the venue has changed

Its somewhat ironic that the headline on the Quins RL site is that Quins FC are seeking a PR internship. Seems like RL need to make use of that person pretty damn quick

No, we need someone who knows what they are doing and charges appropriately, we have balls ups like this because they think anyone can turn their hand to a bit of PR.

I couldn't agree more BG......We may not have the cash to pay for someone, but let's face it, most of the people I have met at Harlequins Rugby League are quite capable of doing this themselves.

I fully appreciate the sheer volume of work done by the back office team, but, as in any business, unpaid overtime is part of the job, especially the further up the food-chain you go.

Duties will include:
• Writing copy and helping to produce Quins matchday programme, official website and all commercial and marketing literature.
THE CLUB HAVE A MEDIA OFFICER I BELIEVE
• Helping to run the Quins press office, both during the week and on a matchday.
THE CLUB HAVE A MEDIA OFFICER I BELIEVE
• Helping to run Quins award-winning matchday experience.
13 DAYS A YEAR...EMPLOY A PART TIMER
• General PR and Marketing administration
THE CLUB HAVE A COMMERCIAL MANAGER AND A MEDIA OFFICER I BELIEVE
