The best combination for 1/6/7/9 : Fri Jul 31, 2009 7:59 am
We've undoubtedly lost momentum but I think we can get it back once we have a near full squad to choose from.

IMO the key decision for BM revolves around the dummy half:

Kaye's distribution and speed of thought from DH are letting us down. If Randall is fit, he should play DH for 60 mins and let Danny Orr act as relief DH. If Randall isn't fit, Orr, Gale and maybe Skee should share the DH duties. No. 9 is the key decision-maker and he *must* be a ball player.

We began the year with Randall and Orr sharing the DH role and I expect our win:loss ratio with Randall and Orr in the side is vastly superior to any combination involving Kaye.

Make the tough decision, BM, and let Kaye develop in the reserves.

My starting 1/6/7/9 for the run-in:

1. Gale (with Wells switching from wing to FB when don't have possession)
6. Dorn
7. Orr
9. Randall

Relief 1/6/7/9:

14. Sharp for 9. Randall

1. Sharp
6. Dorn
7. Gale
9. Orr

Get Purdo back and we have yet another option at first/second receiver.

I think 9, 13, 7, 6 pick themselves-when fit

The change I would make is moving Melling into FB. He has a good return on him, chimes into the line and is a line breaker.

Wells was given a testimonial based on being the only player in 10 years not to break a tackle.

Gale can fill in a 6/7

Kaye I believe is finished- Orr covered at 9 last week when Kaye went off and when Kaye returned he played ?12 I think. Orr livened it up a bit I thought

Purdo as 6 replacement when back if needed.

Agree re Melling, though a tad harsh on Jon Wells. Rest pick themselves. Randall has to be dummy half for 06/70 minutes, the stats dont lie.............

Very harsh on wells. He may not be the "game breaker" you want, but he does a job for the team and deserves his testimonial IMO.

I will be more specific, Purdo is our only replacement at 6 at this level. HKR home no 6 no guidance when Gale stepped in one week later Purdo to 6, best win of the season.(I hope my memory is serving me right there!!)

Purdham played at 6 in our best performance of the season (at Leeds) and was the best player on the pitch IMO.
