but the facebook overload smacks of desperation. I am thouroughly depressed at this state of affairs and even more so, because we apparently have a marketing professional in the office who is responsible for it.......2,500 if we're lucky on Saturday and that's with free tickets advertised to those who would have paid anyway....Genius....pure Genius

The bar after the game was empty on Sun like Ive never seen it before. Speaking to people straight after the game was painful. Some who have been coming for years were saying they have had enough. As you have suggested it could be a very low crowd on Sat. Hudds are running red hot at the moment and it could be a long afternoon similar to Leeds and Warrington, just this time at home.

Here we go - the club tries something different and GF knocks it - what a f***ing surprise. Is it just that you didn't think of it? or what?

I can't be arsed searching for it, but I suggested the use of social and new media ages ago. I have no problem with it, but the timing of the salford offer (2,000 members my butt) and the constant updates for the hudds offer just smack of reactionary marketing. If you can be bothered, read my post from last October suggesting ways to attract more fans. If put into place THEN and not now, they may have attracted better gates, but we will never know...will we.
I applaud initiative........but when it's PROACTIVE.
As for me having a pop/knocking it....too f()cking right I'll have a go.......a 5 yr old could have come up with the stuff to date in the MASSIVE marketing campaign........I have no personal issues with PB, DH or anyone else at the club and as I know little about tactics on the pitch, I leave the armchair coaches to comment on the team, but the marketing of the game, club and team is a shambles and I don't care who tires of me saying it.......it is a f()cking disgrace! And I'd be suprised if the massive shirt deal with WIN didn't have an escape clause in it.......I mean...it's a MASSIVE deal......exposed to 2,500 hardy sould a fortnight :ROCKS:

That is the fundamental problem with this initiative, yes.

In a nutshell.....YES.
Planning a MASSIVE campaign is key to that MASSIVE campaign having a chance to get a ROI. Without planning, it is essentially a MASSIVE waste of time and money.

It's been fun.

Re: sorry wire-quin : Wed Mar 17, 2010 11:09 pm
The best time to market a product is when it's at it's best (Coke, McDonalds, etc) leaders in their field yet ALWAYS marketing their product.
I agree GF, when Quins were competing in the top half of the table is when the marketing should have been in overdrive.

Now imagine they get 10,000 (8,000 new fans) to this game this week and watch Quins get tonked and find it utterly boring that is just as bad as getting low gates. They won't part with their money to watch dross.

I'm a Wire fan in London, i used to watch the Quins games quite regular. Now i just don't find it entertaining enough to warrant a 2 1/2 round trip to The Stoop.
