was watching an nfl doco. on one of their teams and they used the term bomb to describe those long high passes from quaterback to running back and i think gibson took that idea, realized you cant throw the ball forward in RL and adapted it to a "bomb" kick we have

We would sponsor probably a couple of youth and fringe squad players every season, and hold an auction for the shirts at the end to raise some more cash for the following seasons pot, end of season tickets [as was] for the players do we either auctioned or gave on a kinda rota basis.

Nope not you also meant to say we did this for around 5 seasons and used to get around £800-900 each season from on here, which was the only way even then we would "individually" sponsor players.
