CG on the SL Review show : Wed Jan 23, 2013 12:58 pm
I know it was a while back, but did anyone see Sky's SL Review show? They reviewed the season round by round and interviewed various players. Thought Glower didn't pull any punches....here are some of his comments :-
Re Widnes (A)..."You go to Widnes and just expect to win was a wrong mindset and just wrong allround because we didn't show the right respect as a team, and if you don't show the right respect and go there with the right attitude you are going to get beat and we did. It's frustrating because you know the players can do it, but we weren't doing it...it's one of those things where individually you have to do your job and you can't really worry about anyone next to you because it detracts from yourself....first and foremost it's yourself you've got to concentrate on and make sure you do your job, make sure you make your tackles, make sure you talk in the defensive line and be as positive as possible".
V Wigan (after 3 wins in 20)....."I felt Rob did a good job for what he did because obviously the players are responsible for the way we play and we really didn't play to the potential we should have played at.. It's unfortunate that in the game they sack the coach before the players, because obviously all the players are under contract. For Rob...I feel sorry for him, because unfortunately we didn't deliver for him".
V Salford (H)..."It's one of those things when a new coach comes in and everyone's on the back foot and they think they've got to impress again, and it's a soft attitude really because we came out and finished the season well...but what happened to the beginning of the season? That's the way I look at it".
V Wire (H)..."I really don't look too much into that win...we did play well as a group (you don't take nothing away from the win) but there were things from that Warrington side that were not up to their normal aspect of high level. We finished positive and we know that we can win games, now that's something to build on. We'll have a really hard pre-season and we've got to look at how we're going to get better as a team, how we're going to get through those tough periods in a game and become a better football team".
I thought he came across really well in the interview.
Interesting his comments on sacking players before the Coach......wonder who specifically he had in mind? (or I should say, in which order would he sack them?)
If he's Capo again this season, then I think some of the team should watch out!.
