Only just noticed an article on the BBC Sports RL web site with the above title (its under the `Comment & Analysis` section part way down (can`t do the linky thing)......the story was posted yesterday.

I do not know what to make of NW`s comments, one minute supportive saying the RFL will/are assiting the club and the development of RL as a whole in the London area, plus the need to have a London side........then at pains to point out that they cannot show preference or bias.

Just hot air or will we ever see some practical assistance to recognise the different problems a club in a development area has compared to say the heartlands??

Nigel Wood: RFL's London presence 'not right'
The chief executive of the Rugby Football League says the governing body needs to improve its strategy in London.

The capital has had a representative in Super League since its inception in 1996 but London's side has never won the league title or the Challenge Cup.

"London is a unique opportunity," Nigel Wood told BBC London 94.9.

"It is almost inconceivable to consider yourself a national sport without having a strong presence in the capital. We just have to make sure that we get that presence right.

"It is probably not right as it is and we need to work with all the stakeholders to improve that.

"It is extremely important that we 'do London' and 'do London' well in terms of rugby league."

interesting article - does this mean practical support - he points out club is privately owned and where they play is down to them. But also seems to point to London remaining and important part of the RL system? Thoughts?

Tubby in the past has tended to pass over the London issue

Well if does want to push the profile of London to the public, perhaps he could go to Sky (who also we are lead to believe want a London team in SL) and ask why we don't appear in many of their live games. After this game this weekend, our next TV game is the Magic weekend, then we don't appear on Sky again until the 5th August against Leeds.

Even a mate of mine who don't follow RL said that London don't seem to be TV as much as the other Clubs. So no wonder people still think the name Broncos is a American football team playing in London...

So if he wants to do something maybe he could start there with Sky.

given the drastic reduction in investment going into London especially the withdrawal of CRLC money this is all rubbish

The London strategy has been managed terribly in the past and it needs to be sorted, I agree. The people the London Broncos should be looking to are London Skolars and Hemel Stags though.

A ludicrous term to some but it's true. Both teams are going from strength to strength as I type. London look like being one of the strongest sides in their league this season and Hemel have won their first competitive game in the professional game. That aside, as clubs they are both run fantastically. Both sides moved to their respective areas and have stayed there and made ties in the local community, that cannot be said of the London Gypsies who change their name every few years and change venue at a ridiculous speed. How can any London side really expect to gain a fanbase if they're upping sticks and moving every few years?

If the Broncos are moving, this has to be the last time. This has to be the last name change and this has to be the time to really make some roots in whatever community the Broncos move into.
