Ex-Quins CEO to take over at Melbourne Storm : Tue Apr 30, 2013 10:32 am
It seems that the ex-Quins CEO Mark Evans is short listed to take over at the Melbourne Storm next year (link to Oz newspaper article on the Comeallwithin web site). Mark was supportive of our move to the Stoop before we managed to screw everything up on and off the pitch.

As mentioned previously, he is also involved in setting up this years double header at Wembley for the RLWC.

Should he be appointed it will be interesting to see how it pans out given the Storm have expansion club issues. One for GF to keep us posted on.

If this happens, then pie-in-the-sky wonders if he might persuade his new owners to send some investment our way. That's assuming that he still has contacts with DH.

Nah, no chance really.

Dunno which "last time" you mean, there have been so many of them. And, as you say, none has worked. But there's always the possibility of yet another Last Chance Saloon.

Mr Evans and Mr Lenegan were the driving force behind the "partnership(sic)" in 2006....one the RFL made the wrong decision and told Lenegan he had to relinquish his shares and influence in us, David Hughes was the man to deal with Evans.......and the "partnership" soon deteriorated into seperate bedrooms and ulimately an open marriage!

At the risk of being shot, David Hughes choices of CEO have essentially cost us a club and him a lot of money.....and delivered precisely sweet love all in return!

Hogg, Blanchard and now MacKay have delivered, IMHO, little if any direction, value or anything positive since 2008 when we had Sports Cafe as IL's last assistance on our shirts, 3,909 average crowds with only 2 games less than 3k and we finished 1 place outside the end of year extra games.......the decline has been alarming and their is one, common denominator.....David Hughes :(

He is a true London RL legend BTW.....but he really has made a series of bad choices and decisions which will cost us dearly when he walks away.

Very difficult to argue with that, our decline over the last two seasons has been awful to watch and i struggle to understand DH logic

If I would have been David Hughes I would have walked away last season, I know he makes the final decision at the end of the day but does he trust others judgements? rightly or Wrongly, now someone like McManus at St Helens makes All the Decisions and I mean ALL!

As I recall Mark Evans, or Quins RU, had the opportunity take over Quins RL for £1, and didn't.
Also, again as I recall, Ian Lenaghan couldn't own two RL clubs according to SL rules, and Wigan being his hometown club he decided on that.
Neither much to do with David Hughes, except that without him it's difficult to see where the club would have gone post Ian Lenaghan's departure.

Quins not buying us was nobody's fault......the RFL are 100% to blame for not having the balls to let lenagan keep an interest in us....as for life without Mr Hughes and his magic cheque book.....Sometimes I think it may have been better if Mr Hughes had walked when the RFL told lenegan to relinquish his shares. He would have saved himself about 7.5 million quid and if the RFL hadn't stepped in, then we would have dropped out of SL.

Not that I am saying I wish this was the case, but the long, drawn out, sometimes comical and very very painful death of the club since then has not been a pretty spectacle.
We've lost over 50% of our fans and not finished anywhere near the top 10, have had three CEO's who all failed to deliver, have had more backroom staff come and go than we did in the previous 10 years and now we're about to move again rather than stand and fight for attention.....if Lenagan was still the majority shareholder, things would be a lot better........look at what he's achieved at Wigan since taking over!
